What specific problem are you solving?
n Burkina Faso and across sub-Saharan Africa, millions face persistent barriers to accessing timely, continuous healthcare—especially those with chronic diseases or maternal health needs. Over 50% of the population lacks consistent access to essential health services, and in rural areas, this percentage is even higher. Many patients live hours away from clinics and miss critical follow-ups due to distance, cost, or lack of awareness.
For example, 24 million people in Africa live with diabetes, a number expected to double by 2045. In Burkina Faso, care delays lead to life-threatening complications like comas or amputations. In maternity care, 70% of maternal deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa, often due to missed antenatal visits and limited follow-up after delivery.
These gaps are worsened by poor communication between patients and providers, fragmented health records, and health system overload. Most available digital tools require smartphones and internet, excluding a large portion of the population.
SuiviVital addresses these challenges by enabling care access and follow-up through mobile, SMS, and AI—even for those without smartphones or internet. Our solution helps reduce delays, improve care continuity, and support overstretched health workers with actionable insights.
What is your solution?
SuiviVital is a digital health platform that connects underserved patients with doctors and supports continuous care through mobile, SMS, and AI tools.
Designed for low-resource settings, SuiviVital works even without internet. Patients access services through a mobile app, WhatsApp, or SMS/voice interface. They can register symptoms, schedule consultations, and receive follow-up reminders or health guidance.
Doctors access a web-based dashboard to monitor patients, respond to alerts, and manage appointments. The platform integrates Delia, an AI-powered assistant that sends tailored SMS or voice messages based on patient data, triages needs, and triggers early referrals for at-risk individuals.
SuiviVital uses secure cloud infrastructure and complies with national health data protection standards. It combines AI, mobile health (mHealth), and communication technologies to improve follow-up and reduce delays in care seeking.
Our pilot—supported by the Ministry of Health of Burkina Faso—will begin in May 2025 in public hospitals and private clinics, focusing on patients with chronic diseases and pregnant women. By adapting to both smartphone and basic phone users, SuiviVital ensures inclusive access to essential care.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
SuiviVital serves underserved patients in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly those with chronic illnesses like diabetes and hypertension, pregnant women, and individuals in rural or low-income urban areas. These populations often face systemic barriers: long travel distances to health centers, lack of transportation, healthcare worker shortages, and minimal access to follow-up care.
Many patients lack smartphones or internet, making it difficult to access digital health tools. As a result, they often miss appointments, fail to adhere to treatment, and seek care only in emergencies. This leads to higher rates of complications, hospitalizations, and preventable deaths.
SuiviVital addresses these challenges by meeting patients where they are—through mobile apps for those with smartphones, and SMS or voice-based systems for those with basic phones. The platform enables them to connect with healthcare providers, receive personalized follow-ups and reminders, and get timely guidance via our AI assistant, Delia.
For pregnant women, SuiviVital supports safer pregnancies through antenatal monitoring and reminders. For chronic disease patients, it improves treatment adherence and early risk detection. By providing accessible, continuous care regardless of connectivity or location, SuiviVital helps people manage their health with dignity, confidence, and fewer delays.
