What specific problem are you solving?
In many communities, education fails to cultivate essential skills like critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability. Foundational competencies like literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development are often weakest where they’re needed most. According to the World Bank (2022), seven out of ten children in low- and middle-income countries can’t read a simple sentence by age ten. In Kenya, only 35% of teachers can solve problems at the level they’re teaching. Meanwhile, emotional distress and burnout are rising globally, especially among students in high-pressure or low-support environments. Traditional education systems rarely account for personal context. They expect performance but miss the signals of burnout, confusion, and disengagement that are reflected in today's societal state. Noa is designed to bridge that disconnect. As a cognitive assistant, Noa interprets real-time behavioral, emotional, and academic signals to support both students and educators. It tracks beyond performance, it understands what’s behind it, and what to do next. Whether in an urban U.S. high school or a rural classroom in Kenya, Noa helps make the invisible visible, making learning human again, created to meet students where they really are.
What is your solution?
We are building a cognitive learning assistant and ontology-based experience system that supports students, educators, and institutions in navigating the learning journey in real-time even in low-resource and disrupted environments - NOA. The assistant synthesizes signals from across a student’s ecosystem like academic data, life logistics, and emotional cues to then process them into three cognitive vectors: goal, emotion, and performance. These vectors form a dynamic learner profile that enables the system to deliver personalized guidance through voice, chat, or UI: what concept to revisit, when to seek help, or how to stay on track. Educators gain insight into why students struggle, not just where, and administrators can act on patterns that span academics, engagement, and access. Designed for adaptability, our system functions across fragmented data environments supports intermittent connectivity, and can deploy lightweight interfaces suited to mobile devices in emergency and conflict-affected settings. Through our hybrid nonprofit model, we offer the platform at little cost in underserved communities, with intelligence continuously improved through high-resource deployments. By unifying cognitive context with learning support, we ensure education doesn’t just deliver content, it responds to the whole learner, even in the most difficult circumstances.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
We aim to serve the people who carry the weight but rarely get the support, learners, educators, and institutions trying to do the work with systems that don’t see the full picture. We aim to serve the student who’s got drive, who shows up every day with something to prove but feels invisible, out of sync, or overwhelmed. We aim to serve the teacher who wants to make a difference but is stuck managing chaos with no time, no tools, no real insight into what their students are really going through. We aim to serve the administrator trying to hold it all together, navigating policies, people, pressure lacking a map and a bunch of disconnected dashboards. We dream of serving humanity because when you support the people shaping the future, you shape everything that comes next. What we’re building is more than a tool. Noa is a mirror and a bridge. It reflects what students can’t always say. It shows educators where their energy lands. It helps systems act with clarity, not just react. Because learning isn’t just content. It's an emotion. It’s rhythm. It’s context.
