What specific problem are you solving?
In Colombia, 76% of the population experiences food insecurity, according to 2024 data from FAO and WFP. Childhood obesity and overweight rates have nearly tripled in the past five years, signaling a growing public health crisis. Globally and regionally, chronic diseases remain the leading causes of death. Despite these alarming trends, prevention is often perceived as boring, costly, or inaccessible. This mindset leads individuals to maintain unhealthy habits, underestimating the long-term consequences. Organizations, in turn, face significant productivity losses; poor nutrition alone can result in a 66% decrease in productivity. Economically, investing in prevention is far more cost-effective than treatment. Studies indicate that preventive measures can save up to $42,000 per quality-adjusted life year (QALY) compared to treatment costs. The core issue is a lack of awareness and actionable data. Without understanding the real state of physical, mental, emotional, and financial well-being, individuals and organizations cannot make informed decisions. Our solution, VILAB, addresses this gap by providing a comprehensive, data-driven well-being index. It empowers communities and organizations to identify specific needs, prioritize interventions, and allocate resources effectively, shifting the focus from reactive treatment to proactive prevention.
What is your solution?
VILAB will be a digital platform that measures well-being and turns data into action. The tool will allow organizations and communities to understand the real state of their people’s physical, mental, emotional, and financial health. Through a guided, accessible questionnaire, users will complete a self-assessment, and the platform will process the data to generate detailed well-being reports. More than just scores, VILAB will identify gaps, show how individuals or groups compare to recommended standards or peer benchmarks, and offer clear, evidence-based alternatives for closing those gaps. The platform will be accessible on mobile and desktop, designed with a user-first, inclusive approach. It will feature dashboards for decision-makers, printable summaries, and a logic-based recommendation engine that guides next steps. Beyond diagnostics, Soydoy will offer hybrid (virtual and in-person) services to support organizations in addressing the gaps from nutrition education and mental health programs to financial wellness and lifestyle change strategies. We will also work with other mission aligned providers to create a network of scalable impact. VILAB will help employers, public institutions, and social organizations shift from reactive health spending to strategic investment in prevention and well-being with data to guide every step.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
VILAB serves organized structures that work directly with people, such as grassroots community organizations, farmer associations, women’s groups, and private companies or institutions. Our target users are these organizations, who will use VILAB to understand and improve the well-being of their members, beneficiaries, or employees. The individuals assessed through VILAB come from diverse population groups: children, youth, adults, older adults, people with disabilities, caregivers, informal workers, and more. These individuals are often overlooked in traditional health systems, and their real needs, physical, emotional, financial, and mental, are rarely measured in a holistic, accessible way. Community-based organizations and private-sector employers lack effective tools to monitor the health and well-being of their people. This makes it difficult to prioritize resources or deliver truly relevant support. VILAB will provide them with a simple, scalable, and inclusive way to assess well-being. It will generate clear data, highlight gaps, and support organizations in making more strategic decisions. Through these organized actors, we will reach populations that are frequently underserved and enable targeted action to improve lives, not with assumptions, but with evidence. In doing so, VILAB strengthens institutions and empowers people, making well-being a shared responsibility and a measurable goal.
