What specific problem are you solving?
At Grandmama, we are addressing the growing crisis in homecare—both for families in need and caregivers seeking dignified work. In Greece, over 21% of the population is over 65, with increasing demand for in-home support due to aging, chronic illness, and hospital overflow. Families often struggle to find trustworthy, affordable care, especially in remote or underserved areas. At the same time, thousands of women particularly migrants, refugees, and those over 40 are unable to access formal employment due to lack of training or opportunity.
Globally, by 2050, over 1.6 billion people will be over 65, and the need for long-term care is expected to triple. The system is broken dominated by expensive agencies and fragmented informal care networks.
Grandmama solves this through a AI care agent and tech-enabled platform that instantly matches families with vetted caregivers, supports onboarding and mobilization, enables daily care reporting, and provides training and upskilling to caregivers. We’ve built Greece’s largest care network with 11,000 caregivers and nurses, helping over 7,000 families and generating €30M in income, while ensuring fair pay and transparent pricing.
In June 2025, we expand to India, starting in Kerala, to replicate our impact in one of the world’s largest and most underserved care markets.
What is your solution?
Grandmama is a caretech platform that makes it easy for families to find and manage trusted homecare. Through our mobile and web platform, we connect families with vetted caregivers and nurses for the elderly, people with disabilities, or patients who need support at home.
At the heart of Grandmama is our AI Care Agent, a smart assistant that helps families throughout the entire care journey. It instantly matches them with the most suitable caregiver based on their needs, language, availability, and personality preferences. Once a caregiver is selected, the AI supports onboarding, helps coordinate schedules, and enables daily reporting of the elder’s condition, providing peace of mind to the family.
Caregivers also benefit from the platform, as they receive access to training, mobilization support, and fair work opportunities, especially for women, migrants, and refugees.
Unlike traditional agencies, Grandmama works directly with families in a transparent, digital, and affordable way. Our technology includes AI matching algorithms, secure digital profiles, automated notifications, and soon, predictive health alerts.
The platform is already live in Greece, and we're expanding to India in June 2025. www.grandmama.gr
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Grandmama directly improves the lives of two key underserved populations: families in need of reliable homecare and caregivers, primarily women, immigrants, and refugees, seeking dignified employment.
On one side, we support adult children caring for aging parents, people with disabilities, or patients recovering at home. These families are often overwhelmed, emotionally burdened, and have limited access to affordable, trusted care—especially in rural or underserved areas. Traditional agencies are expensive, slow, and impersonal, while informal options lack oversight and security. Grandmama gives them direct access to vetted caregivers, AI-powered matching, daily condition reporting, and ongoing support—making homecare faster, safer, and more affordable.
On the other side, we empower caregivers, most of whom are women over 40, often immigrants or refugees. They face barriers to employment, low wages, lack of training, and limited protection. Grandmama offers them fair pay, flexible work, training, and professional recognition through a transparent, supportive platform.
By solving for both sides, we create a system where families receive peace of mind and caregivers gain economic independence. We’ve already impacted over 7,000 families and 11,000 caregivers in Greece, and we’re expanding to India in 2025 to serve even more underserved communities globally.
