What specific problem are you solving?
The core challenge we address is the significant food waste occurring at both farming and supply chain stages, where up to 45% of the produce is lost. This upstream inefficiency not only results in economic losses for farmers and logistical challenges for supply chain operators but also contributes substantially to greenhouse gas emissions due to decomposing organic waste. Current food waste solutions predominantly focus on downstream consumer and retail waste, neglecting this crucial upstream issue.
What is your solution?
Our innovative solution tackles the upstream food waste challenge by recovering surplus and 'imperfect' produce directly from farms and supply chain operations. We employ a proprietary, optimized freeze-drying technology that maximizes nutrient retention and bioavailability, ensuring a superior nutritional profile compared to traditional preservation methods. This process transforms otherwise wasted produce into convenient, instant smoothie sachets, delivering concentrated nutrients in a format ideal for busy urban lifestyles. Each sachet prevents 400g of food waste and 2.2kg of CO2e emissions, offering a tangible environmental benefit alongside enhanced consumer health. By focusing on upstream waste and optimized freeze-drying, we provide a sustainable and nutritionally superior alternative to existing food products, addressing a critical gap in the market.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves two primary groups whose needs are currently underserved: 1. Metropolitans / Time-constraint professionals: These individuals seek convenient, sustainable, and genuinely nutrient-dense food options for their busy lifestyles. They are often underserved by "on-the-go" foods that compromise on either nutritional quality or sustainability. Our instant smoothie sachets provide a quick, highly nutritious, and eco-conscious meal solution, directly addressing their need for health without sacrificing convenience or values. 2. Elderly individuals: This group requires affordable and nutrient-dense dietary options, often facing challenges with food preparation, cost, or accessing foods rich in essential nutrients. Our solution offers an easy-to-consume, affordable source of concentrated nutrition derived from upcycled produce, helping them meet their dietary needs effectively and maintain better health.
