What specific problem are you solving?
The Tech Tuesday Program addresses the urgent challenge of digital exclusion among teachers in rural and tribal government schools, where a lack of access to technology, internet, training, and digital confidence directly impacts student learning. Globally, over 500 million children face "learning poverty" (World Bank, 2022), with digital inequality as a core cause. In India, only 30% of rural schools have internet access (UDISE+ 2021-22). In districts like Coimbatore, Pollachi, Nagapattinam, and Tirunelveli, over 60–70% of teachers lack the confidence to use basic tools like powerpoint, Excel and require contextualised, hands-on support. Additionally, language unfamiliarity with English-based platforms creates further "machine language anxiety," deterring ICT use. Without intervention, these gaps perpetuate passive, outdated teaching practices, leaving first-generation learners digitally disenfranchised. Tech Tuesday provides teachers with multilingual, low-bandwidth training, peer mentoring, and scaffolded content to foster confident, tech-integrated classrooms, even in the most underserved areas.
What is your solution?
Every Tuesday, teachers receive a short and practical technological tip in the form of a video—something they can immediately try out in their classrooms. These video resources fall under our initiative called Tech Tuesday, and they are designed to help teachers use digital tools with ease and confidence. Each video is just 60 to 90 seconds long and is shared directly with teachers through WhatsApp. The language is always Tamil, so it’s easy to understand and doesn’t feel intimidating. These tips are not complex—they’re simple, actionable ideas like how to use a projector effectively, how to take attendance digitally, or how to make lessons more interactive using tools like Google Slides, YouTube, or even how to create interactive lesson plans using AI. Over time, teachers begin to explore more, try new tools, and gradually build their confidence with technology. We also support them with ready-to-use materials, posters, and ongoing check-ins through phone calls or peer mentoring. Tech Tuesday is about making technology feel friendly and useful—not something extra, but something that helps teachers and students every day, in real and practical ways. Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Tech Tuesday serves over 300 government school teachers in rural and tribal blocks of Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Pollachi, Nagapattinam, and Tirunelveli. These teachers often serve first-generation learners and operate with low infrastructure, limited internet, and minimal prior exposure to EdTech tools. Impact: 85% of participating teachers report increased confidence in using digital tools When observed in 2 higher grade classrooms the pass percentage moved from 75 - 85% within 6 months of integrating tech pedagogy Tamil-language content production by teachers doubled By building digital confidence, contextual familiarity, and peer-led learning environments, Tech Tuesday enables teachers to create participatory, inclusive, and tech-enabled classrooms, transforming student engagement and closing the rural-urban digital divide.
