In Sub-Saharan Africa, millions of street vendors and small businesses operate in underserved urban areas, relying on inefficient, expensive, and polluting energy sources like charcoal or gasoline generators. These businesses, often run by women and youth, lack access to reliable, affordable electricity, hindering their potential for growth and economic empowerment. Over 30 million small-scale entrepreneurs in Africa face power shortages daily, limiting their ability to scale and earn higher incomes. Additionally, traditional energy sources contribute to air pollution and health issues, with 600,000 people in Africa dying annually from indoor air pollution related to cooking with solid fuels. The Solar Trolley TZ addresses this problem by providing a portable, solar-powered energy solution. Each trolley generates up to 1.2 kW of clean energy, enough to power cooking appliances, charge phones, and operate lights or fans. This solution reduces reliance on polluting energy sources, lowers business operational costs, and empowers women and youth-led microbusinesses to thrive. Our target market consists of over 5 million microbusinesses in Tanzania alone, with expansion potential across Sub-Saharan Africa.
