What specific problem are you solving?
At StandWeSpeak, we are addressing the critical lack of accessible, inclusive, and judgment-free sexual and reproductive health education among youth, especially girls, LGBTQ+ individuals, and persons with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries. 1. In India, every second child experiences sexual abuse (UNICEF), and yet comprehensive sexuality education remains absent in most schools. 2. 225 million women globally have an unmet need for family planning (Women Deliver), and 28 million unintended pregnancies occur annually in India (WHO). For those with disabilities or LGBTQ+ youth, the gaps are even more profound—exclusion, discrimination, and silence are the norm. 3. Millions of adolescents struggle to access trusted experts, non-judgmental guidance, or even basic products like contraception, menstrual hygiene essentials, and pregnancy tests, either due to cost, shame, or the absence of youth-friendly services. 4. The shame, stigma, and misinformation around these topics not only silence youth but cost lives, 3 million teenage girls undergo unsafe abortions each year globally (UNICEF), and 800 women die daily from preventable pregnancy-related causes (WHO). Lack of access, affordability, shame, fear of judgment, absence of expert-led support, and inaccessible or non-inclusive learning systems all converge to create a global crisis in youth sexual health and education, putting millions at risk physically, mentally, and emotionally.
What is your solution?
At StandWeSpeak, we’ve built a hybrid digital and physical solution that makes sexual health education safe, accessible, and stigma-free. Our AI-powered chatbot Mae is an inclusive, anonymous, multilingual platform that provides judgment-free, evidence-based guidance on topics like periods, pleasure, consent, contraception, mental health, STIs, relationships, and more. Mae goes beyond just information—it offers: 1. Access to certified experts via chat/video 2. Recommendations for trusted sexual health products 3. Personalized responses using natural language processing (NLP) 4. A library of videos, toolkits, and interactive stories 5. Multilingual content tailored to local and cultural nuances 6. A fully anonymous and confidential space available 24/7 It’s designed for low-bandwidth settings and we're working to integrate voice-based access for users with limited literacy. For younger audiences (ages 2–10), our physical product Little Hands, Big Boundaries™ is a game-based learning box that teaches body safety, consent, and emotional intelligence. Through storytelling, role-play, and tactile tools like Power Gems, Emotion Wands, and Consent Spinners, it turns complex concepts into playful, age-appropriate lessons. Together, Mae and our game box bridge both digital and physical learning gaps in sexual and emotional health—grounded in empathy, accessibility, and lived realities.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves young people aged 13–30, especially those in low-income, rural, and marginalized communities across India and the Global South, who are navigating puberty, relationships, gender identity, and reproductive health with little to no support. Many face stigma, shame, lack of access to experts or products, and minimal or inaccurate sex education. LGBTQIA+ youth, young women, and persons with disabilities are even more excluded due to systemic neglect and taboos. Mae, our AI-powered chatbot, offers these youth a confidential, judgment-free space to ask questions, access reliable health guidance, speak to experts, and find curated, affordable sexual wellness products. By providing culturally contextual, multilingual, and inclusive support, Mae replaces shame with knowledge and silence with empowerment. For children aged 2–10, our game box Little Hands, Big Boundaries introduces vital concepts like body safety, consent, and emotional awareness in fun, age-appropriate ways. It enables parents and educators to start critical conversations early, often for the first time. Together, these tools give underserved youth and children the knowledge, language, and confidence to understand their bodies, seek help, and make informed decisions, shaping healthier, safer, and more equitable lives.
