What specific problem are you solving?
The World Economic Forum's Gender Gap Report 2023 highlights the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields (30%), despite the expected growth in these areas. The lack of diversity and inclusion in the technology industry, particularly for women, black and transgender individuals, is a significant problem. In Brazil, only 11% of black professionals in the technology sector are women, and transsexual and transvestite women face minimal employment opportunities. On the other hand, companies struggle to find suitable tech talent, leading to turnover and recruitment challenges. Additionally, there is inherent bias in AI-driven applicant tracking systems due to the development by non-diverse teams, perpetuating systemic inequalities. Our solution focuses on improving Reprograma's hiring platform, adding an upgraded job matching tool for student career assistance. We offer comprehensive HR solutions and talent development programs that promote diversity, provide technical and interpersonal training, and bridge the gap between companies and underrepresented individuals. This would enhance workforce representation, improve recruitment processes, and offer economic empowerment and advancement opportunities. We're designing our platform for use with Reprograma students, but we intend to open it up to the entire community of women and have the platform be a reference for diverse selection processes in IT.
What is your solution?
Since 2016, Reprograma has championed diversity in technology through free tech bootcamps, focusing on empowering women, especially black, transgender, and transvestite individuals. With 61 classes completed, we've positively impacted over 5,000 individuals, achieving a graduation rate of over 80% and a remarkable 70% employment rate within six months. Notably, 62% of our students identify as Black, and 11.8% as transgender or transvestite, highlighting our commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
To enhance the job matching capabilities on our existing platform, we'll incorporate recommendation engine, feedback and evaluation system, aggregating publicly available job listings and collaborating with partner organizations, ensuring data accuracy while adhering to GDPR and LGPD regulations. Our AI-powered system will utilize machine learning algorithms for personalized job recommendations based on individual skills and career goals. Additionally, we will apply generative AI models for resume optimization and interview guidance, creating a holistic career development experience.
We aim for 70% of our graduates to secure tech positions within 12 months, and to establish a national Tech Women Talent Database, ensuring our efforts lead to tangible employability and supporting greater representation in the tech industry.
