What specific problem are you solving?
The specific problem StandWeSpeak is addressing is the lack of accessible, comprehensive sexual health education and the digital divide that limits marginalized communities’ access to information and resources. Over 2.5 billion people worldwide lack access to quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services and information, and this gap is particularly pronounced among women, youth, people with disabilities, and those in rural or conflict-affected regions. In many communities, taboo around discussing sexual health leads to misinformation, stigma, and unsafe practices, further exacerbating vulnerability. StandWeSpeak focuses on reaching underserved populations, especially young people, with inclusive sexual health education. We also aim to close the digital access gap by leveraging technology to deliver education through platforms that are mobile-first, multilingual, and accessible for those with varying levels of digital literacy. Our work is especially crucial as digital tools can help navigate barriers such as limited access to in-person services, cultural taboos, and the lack of safe, trustworthy resources. By addressing these challenges, we aim to empower millions of individuals to take control of their sexual and reproductive health, ensuring healthier futures for generations to come.
What is your solution?
StandWeSpeak offers an innovative, tech-driven solution that integrates AI-powered platforms and gamified learning tools to provide inclusive sexual and reproductive health education. Our flagship tools include Mae, an AI-powered chatbot, and 'Little Hands, Big Boundaries,' a gamified educational box for children aged 2-6. Mae offers personalized, confidential, and accessible sexual health information in multiple languages, designed to be safe and inclusive for vulnerable populations, including youth, women, and persons with disabilities. Mae uses machine learning and natural language processing to answer users' questions on sensitive topics, ensuring privacy and emotional safety. Meanwhile, ‘Little Hands, Big Boundaries’ uses interactive play to teach young children about body autonomy and the importance of safe/unsafe touch, promoting early awareness in a non-threatening, engaging way. By combining education with technology, StandWeSpeak not only delivers critical sexual health education but also ensures that this information is accessible, confidential, and culturally sensitive, bridging gaps in knowledge and empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
StandWeSpeak serves vulnerable and underserved populations, primarily youth, women, persons with disabilities, and those living in rural or marginalized communities. These groups face significant barriers to accessing accurate, culturally sensitive, and confidential sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education. For many, social stigma, limited access to healthcare services, and inadequate educational resources leave them uninformed or misinformed, putting them at risk of unsafe practices and poor health outcomes. By providing accessible, AI-powered solutions like Mae, our platform offers a confidential, safe space for individuals to seek information about SRH without fear of judgment or shame. ‘Little Hands, Big Boundaries’ empowers young children to understand body autonomy, teaching them the importance of safe/unsafe touch through playful, age-appropriate methods. Through these tools, we reach those who would otherwise be excluded from traditional education or healthcare settings, enabling them to make informed decisions about their bodies and health. The impact on their lives is profound: we’re helping break the cycle of misinformation, reduce stigma, and ensure that young people grow up with the knowledge and confidence to navigate their sexual health safely, equitably, and responsibly.
