What specific problem are you solving?
Hypha's primary focus addresses a systemic exclusion of communities from the economies that impact their lives. Centralized governance models and legacy institutions limit participation, transparency, and economic equity. This is especially true in sectors like energy, agriculture, and care, where localized, regenerative models are urgently needed.
As a result, underserved communities face major barriers: lack of access to finance, fragmented collaboration tools, opaque decision-making, and dependence on external actors. This hinders innovation and resilience at the grassroots. Hypha has been working on many projects, with our largest active case in the renewable energy sector. The project is currently in the protoype development phase.
Over 9,000 energy communities operate in the EU, with 200,000+ expected by 2030, yet many struggle with governance complexity, financial exclusion, and value misdistribution. Hypha-powered energy DAOs give residents the tools to co-own solar assets, access smart treasury tools (without banks), and earn through local gig ecosystems leading to 50–80% energy cost savings and greater resilience. Hypha has co-authored a book about this project (upon request).
What is your solution?
Hypha offers a Human-first DAO platform, which is a modular, Web3-native toolkit that empowers communities to build, own, and govern their own regenerative economies. It’s like giving every village, every collective, or cooperative their own operating system for collaboration, value exchange, and local resilience!
The platform includes tools for secure digital identity, community wallets, tokenized value flows, decentralized governance, and skill-based profiles. Communities can set up digital treasuries, vote on proposals, co-manage shared assets, and reward contributions using smart contracts without ever needing banks or intermediaries.
For example, a solar energy co-op can onboard local members, issue fractional ownership tokens for solar panels, pay contributors in real-time for maintenance tasks, and automate revenue sharing all from one mobile or web interface (the surplus of energy produced can be traded to generate value flows in the shared treasury).
Hypha uses blockchain technology to ensure transparency, immutability, and self-custody of data and assets. Our platform also supports governance and proposal templates tailored to different cultural or technical contexts (we provide workshops to introduce these methods).

Hypha has developed a variety use cases for communities historically excluded from shaping the systems that govern their livelihoods: artisanal miners, grassroots peacebuilders, decentralized educators, climate innovators, and energy prosumers. Examples include:
In Nigeria and Kenya, Hypha connected with local actors in artisanal mining communities to form DAOs that ensure fair revenue sharing, safe practices, and direct access to markets, replacing exploitative middlemen with community-owned governance and tokenized transparency. In Sri Lanka, Sarvodaya’s grassroots peace movement can use Hypha to replicate decentralized participatory development, giving villagers a direct role in resource allocation. In Myanmar, where centralized political control has broken down, Hypha explored a censorship-resistant infrastructure for organizing digital communities and rebuilding local decision-making power.
