In India, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) reported that nearly 3% of drugs sold are counterfeit, with higher prevalence in rural and low-resource settings where quality control and supply chain transparency are limited.
The pharmaceutical supply chain suffers from a lack of real-time visibility, weak regulatory oversight, and minimal consumer verification mechanisms. These gaps are exploited by counterfeiters, who introduce fake or substandard medicines that compromise treatment efficacy and patient safety.

Our solution, SmartTrack PharmaChain, is a secure and intelligent system designed to prevent counterfeit drugs using a combination of Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and IoT-enabled packaging.
At its core, SmartTrack PharmaChain assigns a unique digital ID to every medicine unit at the manufacturing stage. This ID is stored on a blockchain ledger, which acts as an unchangeable digital record of the drug’s journey—from production to patient. IoT sensors embedded in packaging monitor conditions like temperature and detect tampering during transit. At each step in the supply chain—manufacturing, distribution, retail—the medicine is scanned and verified, updating its status on the blockchain.
AI algorithms continuously analyze the data to detect anomalies in supply routes, duplicate entries, or suspicious transactions that could indicate counterfeit activity.
