What specific problem are you solving?
At Statwig, we are addressing a critical global health crisis—ensuring the integrity, availability, and traceability of vaccines, antibiotics, and animal health products to prevent avoidable deaths, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and supply chain failures in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Each year, 1.5 million children die from vaccine-preventable diseases, with one in five infants missing essential immunizations due to supply chain inefficiencies, stockouts, and wastage. Nearly 50% of vaccine-preventable deaths occur among zero-dose children, primarily from marginalized communities lacking access to healthcare. Meanwhile, AMR is one of the greatest threats to global health, fueled by poor antibiotic quality, misuse, and weak supply chains. 7.75 million people die annually from bacterial infections, with 3 million preventable deaths due to lack of effective antibiotics. LMICs are particularly vulnerable, where 10% of human antibiotics and 6.5% of veterinary antibiotics are substandard or falsified, accelerating drug resistance and making common infections untreatable. AMR also affects food security, as unregulated antibiotic use in livestock contributes to resistant strains that spread to humans. With fragmented and outdated supply chains, life-saving medicines fail to reach those in need. We ensure real-time tracking and visibility, reducing wastage and strengthening global health security for both humans and animals.
What is your solution?
VaccineLedger is an open-source web and mobile platform revolutionizing supply chains for vaccines, antibiotics, and animal health products. Built with AI, IoT, and blockchain, it provides real-time, end-to-end tracking to prevent stockouts, minimize wastage, and ensure medicine integrity. Through role-based access control, stakeholders across the supply chain can onboard securely and record real-time data on stock transfers, inventory levels, and product movement. VaccineLedger supports localized language settings and offline data capture, ensuring ease of use even in low-connectivity areas. Its smart stock control system continuously monitors consumption patterns, generates optimal reorder alerts, and validates stock sufficiency at all service points. The platform also enables live order and shipment tracking with automated status updates, dynamic route optimization, and exception alerts, ensuring timely deliveries and minimizing cold chain risks. For animal health, VaccineLedger manages livestock registries, farm premises, antimicrobial treatment records, Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) compliance, and AMR surveillance. It allows farmers and veterinarians to log drug use, dosages, prescriptions, and monitor antimicrobial resistance trends, supporting both animal welfare and public health. Proven across Costa Rica and Bangladesh, VaccineLedger is scaling to strengthen health systems, delivering safe, effective medicines to the people and animals who need them most.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
VaccineLedger serves vulnerable populations in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where healthcare systems often rely on manual, paper-based records, causing planning errors, stockouts, wastage, and exposure to counterfeit medicines. Livestock farmers and veterinarians also face critical gaps in accessing high-quality veterinary medicines, leading to poor animal health, lost incomes, and heightened risks of zoonotic disease outbreaks. For example, VaccineLedger is transforming this reality by digitizing health and veterinary supply chains with real-time tracking, predictive stock management, and counterfeit prevention in countries like Bangladesh and Burkina Faso. It is ensuring vaccines and medicines are available where they are needed most, strengthens rural and last-mile delivery, and improves pandemic and AMR preparedness.
