What specific problem are you solving?
In LMICs, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is exacerbated by limited access to diagnostics, unverified antibiotic use, and a lack of community-level oversight. Nearly 10% of antibiotics in LMICs are falsified or substandard, and frontline workers often lack tools to verify medication efficacy or appropriateness. Combined with diagnostic uncertainty and limited testing, this results in overuse, misuse, and loss of trust in treatment. Vibesdoc addresses this by enabling AI-supported symptom triage and antibiotic verification using local health data. Our goal is to empower communities and primary care providers to make safer, more informed decisions and reduce AMR threats, particularly among vulnerable populations such as children under 5.
What is your solution?
Vibesdoc is a community-focused digital triage and engagement tool that uses AI to help users narrow down possible diagnoses based on symptoms and rapid test results. Originally deployed to support COVID-19 response, the platform is now evolving to tackle antimicrobial resistance. We are integrating an antibiotic verification feature that connects to clinical decision support APIs, specifically, we are evaluating the SMART-CDSS API, to validate whether a prescribed antibiotic aligns with the diagnostic data and expected treatment guidelines. This will allow frontline workers and patients to assess antibiotic reliability and flag mismatches or substandard options. This functionality is currently in development and will be merged into our existing platform to enhance access to safe, effective treatment in LMICs.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Vibesdoc serves patients and community healthcare providers in LMICs who are underserved by formal healthcare systems and often lack access to trusted diagnostics and medications. These communities face high rates of antibiotic misuse due to unverified prescriptions and limited access to trained professionals. By guiding users through a digital triage process and verifying antibiotics using AI and external APIs like SMART-CDSS, Vibesdoc helps ensure that medications are appropriate and authentic. This reduces the misuse of antibiotics, prevents ineffective or dangerous treatments, and supports better health outcomes, especially for children under 5, who are most vulnerable to treatable infections. Long-term, aggregated data from Vibesdoc will support more effective AMR surveillance and resource planning at the community level.
