What specific problem are you solving?
The United States faces a critical STEAM education crisis: elementary teachers report feeling least prepared to teach science compared to other subjects, with 45% of schools struggling to fill STEM teaching positions. This shortage creates an early intervention gap where struggling students remain unidentified until they've fallen significantly behind in their academic journey. Science teachers often manage 24+ students with insufficient time for personalized support and early identification of learning challenges. These issues disproportionately affect underserved communities and displaced populations, where educational continuity is frequently disrupted during crises, widening achievement gaps in critical STEM subjects and limiting future opportunities. Traditional one-size-fits-all approaches don't accommodate different learning styles, languages, or abilities. Students with disabilities, who spend 80% of their time in general classrooms, are particularly underserved—despite majoring in STEM fields, they're less likely to secure STEM careers. Without adaptive learning tools that provide real-time insights and personalized pathways, teachers cannot effectively support all learners, perpetuating cycles of inequity and limiting access to high-growth careers that don't always require four-year degrees.
What is your solution?
SciQuiry is an adaptive science learning platform that transforms K-8 science education through bite-sized, gamified question sequences—similar to Duolingo for language learning. Students progress through carefully crafted questions per topic across four scaffolded learning objectives, with our AI engine dynamically adjusting difficulty (easy, medium, hard) based on individual performance. Each question includes instant feedback, contextual hints, and engaging scientific facts to maintain motivation while building deep conceptual understanding. Our question generation system uses machine learning to create comprehensive learning journeys where each question builds upon previous knowledge. The platform leverages natural language processing to provide culturally relevant examples and can adapt content for different languages and contexts. For teachers, our real-time analytics dashboard uses predictive algorithms to identify at-risk students by analyzing response patterns, time-to-answer, and hint usage. Teachers see exactly which concepts students struggle with, enabling targeted intervention before students fall behind. SciQuiry Studio, our AI-powered curriculum generator, allows educators to create custom lessons, worksheets, and assessments in seconds—addressing teacher shortages by amplifying their capabilities. The platform works on basic devices with minimal bandwidth, ensuring accessibility for all communities.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
SciQuiry serves three populations: K-8 Students (Primary beneficiaries): We serve students across public, private, charter schools, and homeschool environments, with particular focus on those in underserved communities, English language learners, students with diverse learning needs, and those at risk of falling behind in STEAM. These learners currently face generic, text-heavy science materials that don't reflect their experiences or accommodate their learning styles. SciQuiry transforms their experience through personalized, culturally relevant content that adapts to their pace, building confidence through small wins and immediate feedback. Teachers & Educators: Overwhelmed teachers, homeschool parents, and educators managing large classrooms currently lack tools to identify struggling learners early or differentiate instruction effectively. Our real-time analytics dashboard transforms them into learning coaches who can provide targeted support before students fall behind. SciQuiry Studio empowers them to create culturally relevant materials in seconds, multiplying their impact despite resource constraints. Underserved Communities: Schools in low-income areas, rural regions with teacher shortages, and communities with large immigrant populations currently have limited access to quality STEAM education. SciQuiry's low-bandwidth requirements and AI-powered content localization ensure equitable access to high-quality, personalized education, opening pathways to STEAM careers.
