What specific problem are you solving?
Water scarcity and inefficient irrigation threaten agriculture and food security worldwide. Agriculture uses about 70% of global freshwater withdrawals, yet many farmers still rely on intuition instead of data for irrigation decisions. In Brazil, over 8.2 million hectares are irrigated, while many producers still lack accessible and farmer-centered technologies.
What is your solution?
Raks Irrigation Intelligence is an irrigation management system that helps farmers and field technicians make daily irrigation decisions more accurately and efficiently. It combines solar-powered soil moisture sensors installed directly in the field with an intuitive digital platform that transforms data into clear, practical recommendations. Using proprietary TDR technology, the sensors measure water availability in the root zone with high accuracy across different soil conditions and automatically send information to the platform, even in areas with limited internet connectivity. Both the hardware and software are fully developed by Raks, enabling full integration and continuous improvements based on real farm feedback. The system is designed to be simple to install and easy to use, allowing farmers with different levels of technical or digital experience to confidently optimize irrigation decisions.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves farmers and local field technicians responsible for irrigation management, particularly small and medium-sized producers who often have limited access to technical assistance and user-friendly digital tools. Many still rely on intuition rather than data to make irrigation decisions, which can lead to water waste, higher energy costs, and unstable productivity. Rural communities may also face challenges such as limited connectivity and barriers to adopting complex technologies. Raks addresses these challenges by providing simple, practical irrigation recommendations based on real-time soil data through an intuitive platform designed for everyday use. By helping users make more informed decisions, the solution reduces water and energy consumption, lowers operational costs, improves crop stability and productivity, and strengthens confidence and autonomy within rural communities.
