What specific problem are you solving?
Non-communicable diseases cause roughly three-quarters of global deaths, yet traditional healthcare systems - originally designed to diagnose and treat acute diseases - still detect risk only after illness develops. This failure disproportionately affects women. Across the Middle East and Africa, women are often excluded in terms of key life stages (fertility, postpartum, menopause), present later with symptoms due to stigma and shame surrounding certain health conditions, experience longer diagnostic delays, are under-screened for cardiometabolic risk, and have conditions such as PCOS, thyroid disease, endometriosis, and menopause-related metabolic changes that are ignored or excluded from coverage. These untreated risk states later become high-cost complications including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, infertility, complicated pregnancy, and chronic disability. Gender inequities in health amplify both health and economic harm: preventable disease progresses silently, employers and insurers finance avoidable complications, and women lose healthy years of life.
What is your solution?
NABTA is an AI-powered clinical risk detection and care navigation platform embedded within employer health insurance programmes. We provide insured populations with an onsite annual clinical health check and ongoing digital suppor. The screening identifies early risk states, such as pre-diabetes, hypertension, and hormone imbalances before they develop into disease. Our platform then guides each individual to the appropriate next step: diagnostics, specialist care, lifestyle intervention, or ongoing monitoring. Our technology combines three components: 1 - Structured clinical screening conducted onsite using an augmented intelligence (patient + practitioner + artificial intelligence). 2 - A digital platform where users access results, education, and follow-up guidance. 3 - An AI-driven care navigation system that interprets results, stratifies risk, and directs patients to the right care pathway. For employers and insurers, the platform aggregates anonymised population insights to identify emerging health risks and manage claims proactively. For individuals, it functions as a continuous preventive care system rather than a one-time test. Our core metric is health sovereignty, measured through a unique Sovereignty Score. By embedding preventive care directly into insurance coverage, NABTA converts healthcare from reactive treatment into ongoing risk management.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our objective is to do for women's health in the Middle East and Africa what M-Pesa did for the unbanked; bringing the 87% of women who are today "health-unbanked" in MEA into the system through affordable, mobile-first access to preventive care. For these women, our solution will create an essential health baseline that is goal-aligned, maintained on an annual basis, and supplemented with education and access to tools that allow them to improve their health without compromising their health sovereignty. We primarily serve working-age women who technically have access to healthcare, often through employers or public systems, but lack structured preventive screening and guidance across key life stages such as fertility, pregnancy, and menopause. Today, care is episodic and symptom-based, meaning conditions like PCOS, hypertension, thyroid disease, and insulin resistance remain undetected for years until complications arise. NABTA's platform embeds preventive detection into the environments women already interact with: workplaces, insurance coverage, and partner clinics. Women receive early risk identification, personalised guidance, and navigation into appropriate care, while employers and insurers gain the ability to intervene before disease develops. The impact is practical and immediate: earlier diagnosis, reduced complications, fewer avoidable hospitalisations, and more healthy years of life.
