Coral reefs are collapsing at the same time coastal communities, economies, nations, and biodiversity need them most. Reefs sustain 25% of marine life and one billion livelihoods in over 100 nations while generating approximately $2.7 trillion annually through fisheries, tourism, and shoreline protection. Yet 50% have died globally since the 1970s and over 90% are on track to die by 2050 due to climate change, pollution, and overfishing. As we wait for leaders to implement solutions to mitigate these threats, coral restoration has emerged as a critical tool to revitalize reef health. But traditional solutions are small-scale, ecologically limited, at high risk to reef threats, and don’t have sustainable funding sources. Coral Vita regenerates threatened coral reefs using a scalable platform that combines high-tech land-based coral farms, science-driven restoration methods, and proprietary technology. We grow diverse, resilient corals in months and years instead of decades and centuries, then outplant them onto degraded reefs or relocate corals from coastal development zones so they can survive and continue providing ecological and economic value. Our land-based farms function as restoration production hubs. They enable controlled coral propagation, genetic diversity, resilience screening, monitoring, and quality control before corals are returned to the ocean. Our BrainCoral technology suite digitizes and improves the restoration workflow by tracking coral inventory, growth, genetics, performance, and site-level data, helping teams make faster, better-informed restoration decisions. TIME Magazine recognized BrainCoral as one of its Best Inventions of 2025 for helping turn coral restoration into a more data-driven, scalable process. Coral Vita sells Restoration as a Service to reef-dependent and nature-positive clients, relocates coral from development zones, and licenses technology, and nature-positive engagement programs to fund durable, ecosystem-scale impact.
