Slurry Based Tunnel Boring Machine
Creation of tunnel for multi purposes use made of concrete, which can be apply to different field for different purposes for 8 inch diameter around 200 feet long tunnel unit. Number of tunnel unit can create long communication and transmission path for electricity, gas, water, optical fiber line, telecom, sewerage network etc. The project is capable to create the tunnel underground without interrupting the daily traffic life. The traditional open-cut method for tunnel creation is expensive and time consuming. The proposed prototype is capable to solve all this problem in Bangladesh just by doing this underground without interrupting the daily life over ground.
People affected in many ways_
1. People are interrupted by Open cut method.
2. Gravitational force can not able to apply in open cut method.
3. Open drain causes various virus and mosquitos.
4. In working time for open cut method, traffic jam increases in the road.
5. Road re-construction affect the other part of the roads.
6. Environment pollution occurs.
7. High depth open cut is very costly.
8. Road become congested.
9. Its take long time to make a pipeline under the ground.
10. Pipes cannot be installed in irrespective weather.
11. There is a high chance to lick the pipes when install using open cut method.
12. Irrigation water piping network for agriculture connecting with river is very expensive for firmer in Bangladesh.
Directly and indirectly, around 80% people in Bangladesh are affected by this problem.
This project is funded by service innovation fund(SIF), organize by Access to Information(a2i) program, Prime Minister office, Bangladesh. We made a contract with government of Bangladesh. Where City corporation and Roads and Highway was interested. We communication with them and getting their requirement of machine. We piloted this project under Municipal. Roads and Highway interested to use this machine as a large scale.

Telecommunication DESCO: Underground Cable and fiber line.

Agriculture sector: Water supply system from river using gravitational force.
Power distribution sector: Underground high voltage electricity line.

Slurry Based Tunnel Boring Machine is a construction machine, which is used to make pipe line under the ground. Without interrupting public tunnel can be construct. Concrete pipe can be used to create tunnel. By installing the machine in a launch shaft, machine will start working. There is a cutter in front of the machine. It cut the soil and transport it to the storage tank which will located over the ground. A control panel will located over the ground and operator operate the machine manually and automatically. A guidance system is used to locate its directional movement. This machine system is very easy to control and simple to understand. By taking training, it is possible to operate this machine by technicians.
Project output:
· No open trenches required – pipes will installed without the general public noticing.
· Towns and landscapes will never be affected by the construction work.
· Falls in water table level, which affect vegetation, can be prevented.
· The amount of soil that needs to be excavated and disposed of will be comparably small.
· No special storage areas will be needed for materials and equipment.
· Traffic in road will not be disrupted.
· Pipes can be installed even in irrespective weather.
· Residents and nature will be protected against noise, dirt and vibrations.
· There will be substantially less damage done than using the open-cut method.
· Carbon emissions will be considerably lower during construction and from traffic, as congestion can be prevented.
· Cost will be less than other existing Micro TBM.
There are some technology used to make this machine. Which are, Mechanical parts designing and creating, Electrical wiring, Automation, Construction, Data transfer and monitoring technology, Hydraulic system, Slurry transportation etc.
