CareerPath - Build career path application

CareerPath helps Vietnamese youth find jobs that they are suited to, pick a learning path & learn with the CareerPath community.

The CareerPath application helps Vietnamese youth with low socio-economic status find suitable career options by doing a quiz. They then can select a learning path for the career. The community of mentors will help them to achieve the learning path. Users can use their profile as an online curriculum vitae to look for a career. Employers can also search for employee by learning paths.

We think it's a problem for the world, not only for Vietnam. If the application can scale, we can support multiple languages for other countries. People can discover their suitable career and learn with the community around the world.

Some highschool students don't know which career path might be the best fit for themselves. Other students know but cannot go to university to learn what they need.

College/Intermediate/University students don't like what they learn after they graduated.

Quiz: The quiz is designed to help students learn about their personality. The quiz also  suggests suitable careers. 

Learning Path: We provide learning paths for a career. The learning path is verified by recruitment companies.

Learning experience: We focus on online learning and design for mobile first. Students can learn & own points which can be used to raise their level.

Mentor: Mentors are volunteers who have experience with relevant careers. Students can mentor others after they have  finished a learning path.

Public profile: We offer a public learning history for students so they can use it as an online curriculum vitae.

Our target outcome is helping disadvantaged students can discover suitable careers and help them learn to get the job.

Unique users with the role is learner in the database - 1,000000 students in Vietnam use our application

Unique users with the role of “employer” in the database - 100 companies use application for recruitment

Enrollment status for learning pathways is completed - 250,000 students can get their desired job

Our application is easy to access with mobile first design. Students can learn from a mobile device or desktop.

The sustainable community also makes our solution unique. We aim to build a community from the beginning, where students who have similar circumstances can learn together. These students in turn can become mentors after finishing a learning path. Student activities will be recorded to their online profile as achievements.

The technologies we are using can help disadvantaged students and experienced mentors connect via the application. It also creates a good online learning experience to help student keep going with their selected career.

We will introduce our solution to students in career guidance in HighSchool/College/Intermediate/University. Students can also find our solution using advertising on Facebook and Google .

Then students can access the solution by using computer or smartphone for free.

There are two limiting factors:

1. The quiz content: It's hard to decide how can we build the quiz content per country. We will be using MBTI quiz at first stage. Then we will look for other other quiz content provider to use their content. In the worst case, we would have to build the quiz content ourselves.
2. The learning path content: As our application supports different careers it may be hard to build a quality learning path which can help student understand about their selected career. We will go with Information Technology career first because it's our strong point and it's easier to get a job in that career.

We're applying to Solve because Solve can help us connect with Solvers who have experience with doing a solve-a-thon. This helps expose our project to different opinions & helps identify gaps in our plan.

Solve have a good outline for our idea, by submitting the idea to Solve we can consolidate our idea.

The prize, it can help us turn our idea to a reality quickly.

By becoming a solver, we hope we can connect with other solvers and help to solve the challenge.
