Midwives and mothers mHealth
High neonatal and maternal mortality rates in Uganda.
Using mHealth communication platform
The solution will help to change the lives of women positively through reduction neonatal and maternal mortality rates by strengthening health care systems via connecting midwives and mothers, hence improving maternal and child health services.
In Uganda, neonatal mortality is estimated to be 27 death per 1000 birth and maternal mortality is at 225 deaths per 100,000 live births.
If every midwife is fully involved in their clients’ education, all
mothers can use maternal and child health services - academic research shows that health workers and community engagement leads to effective use of available health services.
Unfortunately, in hard-to-reach or marginalized communities, families face
multiple but surmountable barriers to actively engaging.
mHealth communication platform uses simple mobile phones where a web site is developed and enables exchange of messages between midwives and mothers at a free cost.
The solution will serve all expectant mothers and newly delivered mothers.
