Conducting trainings on tailoring and Hair-dressing for the identified vulnerable girls/young women meetings and awareness campaigns to community members. Support the beneficiaries with Scholastic materials, tailoring and Hair-dressing start-up kits. It will be expected that the trained group will train 30 people each and continuously for the project sustainability. Community leaders, Youth and Religious leaders will take ahead of training community members on promoting girls and young women both formal and informal learning and use the knowledge and skills acquired from the project to the coming generation. After mitigating bad practices of culture, the project will construct a society where girls’ education is considered and valued.
PRODEVIOW intends to address social issues; to scale down the identified dropouts of the vulnerable refugee girls and young women. With this approach, PRODEVIOW involve all orientations of society, environment, responsibility and economy. With this, the beneficiaries may live independently and develop successful lives. 56,947 are affected by this challenge.
Factors include socio-economic, socio-cultural, educational and acts of violence to their communities leading to high rate of school dropouts, lack of scholastic materials, start-up kits supports, poor education, survival sex, unintended pregnancies, teenage pregnancies, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Infections, inadequate skills, sources of incomes and job opportunities are very limited.
Globally speaking, the implementation of this project will enable beneficiaries to become more creative, critical and logical thinking and educated refugee communities. Moreover, this project will play a very significant role of contributing from lower to high local economy. As per UNHCHR November 2019 statistics, Kakuma refugee camp hosts 193,429 (90,719 female, 102,710 male) out of which 75,165 are school going aged girls and young women. Our interventions are Gender Based Violence Prevention, Livelihoods and Education. Our activities include GBV prevention awareness campaign, Poultry production and management, kitchen gardening/agriculture and Basic skills in Business management, Tailoring, Hair dressing and Numeracy and Literacy in English language learning.
Our beneficiaries are children, girls, young women, teenage mothers, GBV survivors. Age rank is from 6 to 35 years old. Beneficiaries are selected based on their interests and needs, regardless of nationality, reliefs, customs, norms and education background.
PRODEVIOW has skilled volunteer workers who deliver their services. The project runs activities, despite of lack of both financial and in-kinds supports. Your grant of $ 9,800 will play a very significant role of introducing, expanding and growing our organization.
Thank you for undertaking. PRODEVIOW looks forward to a prospect of partnering with SOLVE MIT. The project appreciates your compassion and services delivered to community projects, especially those led by the refugees. By Ilambo Msebengwa Ebunga.
The solution serves the identified most vulnerable school-going girls, (from 12-17 years old) who are at risk of dropping out and young women (teenage mothers, out of school girls, Gender-Based Violence survivors) as from 18-35 years of age and those who dropped out due to cultural barriers and any other forms of vulnerability. The project will directly serve 330 beneficiaries during the implementation period of 1 year. 230 marginalized school-going girls will be supported with learning materials and 100 dropout girls and young women will be engaged in life skills trainings to restore and keep their hope and dreams alive. The life skills training beneficiaries will be enrolled based on their interests and motivations to undertake the courses.
The solution will impact their lives by improving and shaping their learning, supporting scholastic materials, tailoring and hairdressing start-up kits to leverage their livelihoods and enhance resilience, from less educated refugee community to high educated ones, from lower income to higher refugee income communities and many more self-employment opportunities. This will change their backgrounds from the lower rank to higher and be the leads in their communities. By so doing, this will create a sense of exclusivity for the marginalized target groups.
- Increase the number of girls and young women participating in formal and informal learning and training
Following the statistics of school going and non-school going girls and young women, PRODEVIOW will conduct surveys to gather Need-Assessment data to identify and determine the most affected target’s population. The project will provide scholastic materials, tailoring and hairdressing start-up kits support for quality learning. Meetings will support the implementation of the project activities. Awareness will facilitate dissemination of information at higher rate and community’s behavioral change. Trainings on tailoring, dressmaking and hairdressing will be conducted to help beneficiaries generate their incomes. Monitoring and evaluation will be conducted to measure the achievements of the project outcomes.

Following the statistics of marginalized school going and non-school going girls, PRODEVIOW will empower and supoort beneficiaries with jnkwledge and to succeed in their lives. The project is to ensure that we work out effectively and finally changes their former lower status and from marginalization to inclusion.
