Smart Farm Chain
In today's world 70%-80% of food produced by small farmers, it is quite common that these farmers can only earn to provide themselves to live and save for the next years requirement budget to grow the food in their farms, meaning they don't earn to invest their farms and grow better products. On the other side, as consumers, we don't know how much effort spent to grow a lemon or a crop in our table, what was the seed used, fertilizers, chemicals, and the control/checks made by agricultural engineers etc.
Therefore, farmers can not invest to produce better products, we as consumers don't know the trace of the food and buy affordable good products.
Smart Farm Chain, aims to bring a digitalisation on blockchain to farmers to track their progress and get better scores to invest in their farms from banks and credit loan companies or consumers itself. And create an mobile app that ables them to use a mini-ERP system as a producer and track(take photos, document a vlog, scan invoices of their seed, chemical, and engineer checks) and store it in blockchain for their specific products and label them with a unique code. This code can be used in logistics, warehouse, retailers and shops to record this multi party computational process in blockchain, temper-proof, distributed database. And lately this code can be used for consumers to scan and see the whole life of the products they are about to buy.
The tracibility of these products can be used not only to track the data and help consumers but also with the help of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Predictive Analysis Companies to buy/use it to predict future with the help of blockchain. Even this data can be sold to these companies to generate a revenue to help poor farmers to enrich their
The Smart Farm Chain will be built on top of blockchain technology to bring trust between multi party connectionless environment and will use mobile apps to help small farmers to track their products life cycle and inform their consumers via their application. In harvest time a unique QR code is generated based on the food type and inserted to food boxes (tomatoes) or food itself like watermelon. This QR code if used by the logictics and retail companies and the food item to be sold on shops can be traced from farm to fork principle.
This trace brings lots of opportunities to Insurance Companies, Banks, High Tech Companies to create value from the data.
Nowadays, World is fighting to beat a virus called Covid-19 which can live in not hygienic environments for days. The food you buy can also be come from a country or transported in a truck which is not considered clean. Although the data is collected in most of this food journey, we don't know what is happening in small farms. They cant invest, or compete with large farming cooperations to produce the food. To help them and lower the fees fetched by middleman traders from these small farms to retailers a new way of record keeping is recommended. This way not only will help retailers and small farmers but also will help end consumer to know and to create awareness.
Since I've lived in a small town when I was kid which produces the last harvested delicious peaches in Turkey and as a young farmer I do know the farmers' problems. And also as a consumer, I want to know what I am really eat. So We are talking to farmers and consumers to understand their needs.
