How might we use a repertoire of tools and strategies for different stakeholders to build a community with disadvantaged youths and equip youth with skills to validate their self-identity, sense of purpose and cultivate good values.We propose the following tools and strategies:
(1) Social Emotional Learning
To equip youth with social emotional skills to recognise emotions, empathy, build and manage relationships.
(2) Impactful Narratives
To equip youth with self-efficacy scripts that impact their cognitive and mental models.
(3) Character Strengths awareness, exploration and mindful use.
To equip youth with knowledge of their character strengths (viacharacter.org), explore further and apply mindfully in their life challenges.
(4)Meaningful Conversation
To engage youths,parents and teachers in open meaningful dialogue in the youth journey of self-identity validation, sense of purpose and values cultivation as a support platform.
To scale this solution, we will need collaboration with international youth organisation, global education institutions and Educational Technologies Providers to reach out and benefit more young people.
