Solution Overview
Solution Name:
Hoarding and Crowd Control System
One-line solution summary:
Smartphone App that use electron token for reservation in premises for crowd control and food hoarding prevention
Pitch your solution.

My invention will solve the problem of food hoarding and control crowd in train so that social distancing can be achieved to reduce virus infection.

It is a smartphone Apps. User will be issued with a limited number of electronic token. Using these token, user can make reservation at train station, groceries store and etc. This will control the number of people entering a premises and allow effective social distancing. It can also track and restrict the number of items user purchase at groceries store. This will reduce the problem of food hoarding that can lead to shortage and spoilage.

It can easily scaled up to national level. Virus infection and food shortage and spoilage will reduce.

Film your elevator pitch.
What specific problem are you solving?

In Singapore, residents went into a food hoarding madness when the COVID-19 hit and a partial lock down was implemented. This causes shortage leading to community panic. The food hoarding and panic situation quickly spread throughout the country because of the social media reporting.

What is your solution?

My solution is a smartphone App. A Government body implement it in their nation. All user will need to create an account using this App. User will be issue with a limited number of electronic token every month. User use these token to make reservation to travel in train, going to groceries store to buy item and even taking a hair cut. By controlling the number of available reservation, the number of people entering a premise become controllable. This make social distancing a real possibility. The system also can be use to do contact tracking if there is a virus outbreak at a certain location. For groceries purchase, it can reduce food hoarding and track the purchase history of individual.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

Target population is everyone. My solution with reduce the number of people without food because of hoarding behavior by some group of individuals. It will provide a more equitable distribution of food if there is a global food shortage or the global food distribution system goes into shock.

Explain how the problem, your solution, and your solution’s target population relate to the Challenge.

The challenge is virus infection. My solution will reduce the spread of virus in confined premises like train station groceries store and etc. This is done by using electronic token to make reservation for a limited number of time slot. Effectively, we control the number of people entering a premise at any give time and allow effective social distancing. Food hoarding control is also possible but may not be very relevant to this challenge. You can take it as a bonus.
