Kampung Marketer Empowers Village Youth
My name is Nofi Bayu Darmawan,I come from Purbalingga, Central Java, Indonesia. I have graduated from Indonesian State College of Accountancy, when I was in university, I do extra work to get additional money, all the business I have been trying to get additional income, lastly I learnt and did e-commerce, and when I graduated from university I had my e-commerce team with good income and can finish all my family debt. That experience has taught me to understand well about e-commerce since 2011.
After I graduated, I worked as a civil servant in a financial institution and the main job is managing competence increasement, behavior and skills of human resources. From this job, I learnt how to manage human resources correctly starting from the planning until evaluation of success for organization of education. I decided to resign as a civil servant and focus on my social enterprises program.
In Purbalingga, Central Java, Indonesia there are still many village youth unemployed, most of them do not have a chance to work as the limit vacancy at their hometown.
Kampung Marketer found on Aug 27, 2017 to solve the above issue, we train and educate our village youth about e-commerce fields, we give them knowledge on how to be an advertiser, social media admin and customer services. Upon they finish the training program we will collaborate with our partners which are SMEs in Indonesia.
By collaboration, village youth can get their jobs without leaving their hometown and they get monthly income, besides that SMEs which collaborate with us can get the qualified human resource in the e-commerce field.
Currently, more than 800 village youth are empowered and collaborate with more than 250SMEs in Indonesia. We are going to expand our social enterprises to empower more village youth.
Purbalingga is included in the top 10 districts with lowest income in Central Java, Indonesia. In our village, there are more than 1000 village youth unemployed after they graduated from the school. The main reason why they are unemployed is there is no available vacancy at our village, if they want to work they have to go to the central district or even to other cities.
Kampung Marketer is founded to train, educate and give skills to village youth about e-commerce, our training program is taking around 1 week until 1 month program depending what they are going to be. For example, if they want to learn to be an advertiser it will be taking around 1 month. For customer service we will train them for around 1 week.
After they finish the training program, we will empower them with our partners which are SMEs in Indonesia. By this collaboration, they get jobs and they will receive monthly income from SMEs without leaving their hometown.
Now we have collaboration with more 270 SMEs and more than 800 village youth are empowered with a total income of more than IDR 1.3 billion.
Our project is giving skills to village youth about the e-commerce field and after they experted they will be empowered with SMEs in Indonesia. Unemployed village youth in our village can come and register to Kampung Marketer and join with our program free, after they register they will be selected to join our training program. We will train them depending on what program they take, such as social media admin, advertiser, customer service, etc..
on this training program, village youth can know the positive side of social media, they can maximize the social media for getting income not only for wasting time.
After the training program, they can be qualified human resource who are ready to be hired and collaborate with SMEs in Indonesia. Totally SMEs in Indonesia is more than 59 million, but there is only 18% who are understanding and can operate their production through online, by this collaboration village youth from our village can help SMEs to promote or selling their product through online media, such as google, Instagram, Facebook, and others 3rd party online market.
Our project is serving to village youth in our village and our solutions are giving positive impacts as below:
More than 1000 village youth are getting knowledge about the e-commerce field.
More than 800 village youth are empowered without leaving the hometown.
Total velocity of money from empower village youth are more than IDR 1.3 billion each month
We have 20 training centers which are ready to train village youth about the e-commerce field.
Besides the above impacts, Kampung Marketer also helps SMEs in Indonesia who are not understanding the online market. SMEs do not have to worry about hiring, training and keeping worker performance because Kampung Marketer will provide competent workers, train them and watch their performance on a daily basis.

Kampung Marketer is found in small village to teach and train village youth about the e-commerce field.
We are coming to a new era of industry 4.0 which technology evolves so fast, but there is only 18% of the total more than 59 million SMEs in Indonesia aware about the online market.
In this situation we can provide the qualified human resource from the village to be hired by SMEs to help to promote the products online.
By this collaboration, village youth can get jobs and monthly income while the SMEs have been helped to sell their production through online.

In Purbalingga, there is still so much unemployment, high urbanization from village to city, and still a lack of vacancy in villages, particularly in technology, those reasons are attracting me to build the social enterprise Kampung Marketer.
Kampung Marketer is attending in my village with following projects:
Reducing unemployment and creating new vacancies especially in the technology sector.
Reducing urbanization flow from village to city.
Creating young businessman, independent and reliable about technology
Above project we do because we want all village youth to get good jobs and good understanding about the digital world especially in e-commerce, they will get income and stay close with their family, and also they will be underestimated by people because they can compete and have skills in e-commerce.
I learned the e-commerce field by autodidact, from this autodidact knowledge I could do my own business and cover my daily needs when I was in university. After graduating from university, I have my own e-commerce team.
After graduated, I worked as civil servant in financial department and the main jobs there are managing competence increasement, behavior and skills of human resources
Based on e-commerce skills and working experience to manage human resources, I am attracted to build and share my knowledge in the e-commerce field through Kampung Marketer.
In Kampung Marketer we have teams to ensure that village youth are getting learning and training programs in the e-commerce field and being qualified human resources. After the learning and training program, our team will make the collaboration between village youth and SMEs in Indonesia.
In my village, most of the people there are farmers and the village youth are not working, they just spend their time without any benefits. The First time I introduce e-commerce to them it is very difficult to teach them from zero because they do not have any capability in this field and SMEs who want to collaborate with us are not sure and underestimated the quality of our village youth. They thought that village youth are not having good quality and knowledge in e-commerce. Slowly but surely, we can teach, empower and have collaboration between village youth with SMEs and we have changed their mindsets and made them collaborate with us.
Now we have empowered 800 village youth and 270 SMEs in Indonesia are collaborating with us. Total from those collaboration village youth can make income more than IDR 1,3 billion each month.
My family background is coming from being underprivileged and having debt with a big amount in 2010, this situation demands me to get additional money while I was in university. All the business I have been trying to get additional income, lastly I learnt and did e-commerce, and when I graduated from university I had my e-commerce team with good income and can finish all my family debt. That experience has taught me to understand well about e-commerce since 2011.
After graduating from university, I worked as a civil servant in a financial institution (Badan Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Keuangan - BPPK), and the main job is managing competence increasement, behaviour and skills of human resources of other civil servants in financial institutions. From this work field, I learnt how to manage human resources correctly starting from the planning until evaluation of success for organization of education.
Based on some motivations I have such as experience in e-commerce, managing human resources, working close with family, having more leisure time and the most important thing is to give my best contribution to expand my village, I decided to resign from my position as civil servant and focus on my social enterprises program.

Kampung Marketer is the only one of social enterprises in Indonesia which is focusing on training and giving skills to village youth in the e-commerce field. Our purpose is giving chance to village youth to explore and skills up their knowledge without taking any charge from them. Upon they finished the training program, Kampung marketer will empower village youth to collaborate with SMEs in Indonesia. One human resource from Kampung Marketer will be dedicated to one SME only, so he/she will be focused and know what is the product of SME he/she handles.
SMEs which used human resources from our village only pay the fixed fee to Kampung Marketer only IDR 500,000 each month, no additional cost charge even if they have big profit after hiring human resources from our village.
Kampung Marketer is not taking any advantage from human resources, we do not deduct their income, we are taking fixed cost per month from SME who join with us.
SMEs which collaborate with us, have to provide devices (Laptop and Smartphone) for village youth who handle their product. Those devices will be returning back to SME if they are finished with the collaboration.
There is no contract between Kampung Marketer and SME, it means that SME can stop the collaboration anytime.
With Kampung Marketer found on Aug 2017, we have give some positive impacts to our village such as:
1. More than 1000 village youth are learning about e-commerce. Previously, they only knew social media as a platform to exist and show up their picture and they just saw social media for sharing information. More than 750 village youth in my hometown are empowered and get their income monthly without leaving the hometown.
2. More than 270 SMEs in Indonesia are using our human resources and there are total income for our human resources are IDR 1.3 Billion each month.
3. SMEs who join with us do not need to spend money to rent a house / office because hiring human resources from Kampung Marketer, they do not need to rent or buy a place to be their workplace.
4. SMEs can save more money to pay the human resource, example, if they are coming from Jakarta which is minimum wage is around IDR 4 Million each month, they only able to hire 1 person, but if they are collaborating with Kampung Marketer, they can hire 2 - 3 people as their worker.
5. People around Kampung Marketer also get additional income from people / community who come to Kampung Marketer for educational tours.
6. Reduce or even stop urbanization flow, because Kampung Marketer gives them a chance to work close with their family.
We are planning to scale up our social enterprises to help more village youth in Purbalingga, below is our planning:
We are targeting to empower 1,400 village youth within one year and it will increase into 2,000 village youth within the next two years, currently we are empowering 800 village youth in Purbalingga.
We also plan to collaborate with 630 SMEs in Indonesia within one year and total 990 SMEs in Indonesia within the next two years, as of now we have collaboration with 270 SMEs in Indonesia.

Currently we have been empowering around 800 village youth, and we collaborate with around 270 SMEs in Indonesia, with total velocity of money is around IDR 1.3 billion each month
For the next year we are targeting as below:

While of our target for next 5 years is:
- empower around 3800 village youth
- Collaborate with more than 2070 SMEs
- The target of velocity of money is IDR 5,85 billion each month.
We are planning to scale up our social enterprises to help more village youth in Purbalingga, below is our planning:
We are targeting to empower 1,400 village youth within one year and it will increase into 3800 village youth within the next five years, currently we are empowering 750 village youth in Purbalingga.
We also plan to collaborate with 630 SMEs in Indonesia within one year and total 2,070 SMEs in Indonesia within the next five years, as of now we have collaboration with 270 SMEs in Indonesia.
Currently the barriers which are exist for us is below:
1. Keeping good performance of our human resources to meet SMEs requirements. It is very critical to keep SME's satisfied with our performance, we have to keep and monitor our human resources in their best performance.
2. We need additional income for making apps for supporting working our human resources and SMEs.
3. Convenience and change mindset of SMEs in Indonesia to collaborate with Kampung Marketer to start their online business and use our human resources.
4. Currently we have issues Covid-19, some SMEs are breaking the collaboration with Kampung Marketer and it is affecting human resources income.
Below are plans to overcome those barriers:
1. We support the human resources which are empowered on a daily basis to keep their good performance and we have a leader of the group to assist their human resources.
For additional income for making apps, we hope we can get a chance to win this grants event to cover making apps cost.
For convenience SMEs to join with us, we held exciting events online by inviting expert guests in e-commerce and we shared the quote from our SMEs about the benefit of using human resources from Kampung Marketer.
To keep the collaboration with SMEs during this issue, Kampung Marketer gives discounts for SMEs who are still collaborating with us.
Kampung Marketer is having collaborations with SMEs in Indonesia with all areas of business. We are providing the human resources such as advertiser, customer services and social media admin for promoting and assisting their business.
SMEs who are using our human resources will pay their salary monthly and they only pay administration costs to Kampung Marketer.
Kampung Marketer has a business model, we are providing human resources from village who are competent in e-commerce to collaborate to maximize SMEs business through the internet. With this partnership, we hope can solve SMEs issue such as:
1. Difficulty to find competent human resources in the technology area.
2. Inconvenience in teaching human resources and keeping their performance in e-commerce.
3. High regional minimum wage and it is increasing every year.
4. Can not bear to fire a worker.
All above issue can be solved by Kampung marketer, because:
1. SMEs do not have to worry about hiring, training and keeping worker performance because Kampung Marketer will provide competent workers, train them and watch their performance on a daily basis.
2. Low operational cost due to Kampung Marketer was building in a small district with low minimum cost wage, so SMEs can use the balance of cost to be allocated to others usage.
3. SME who are using human resources from Kampung Marketer has to pay the administration fee with nominal IDR 500,000.00 each month to Kampung Marketer, and this income will be used for covering operasional costs such as electricity, internet, management salary, devices, equipment, and other expansion.
Kampung Marketer is getting income monthly from SMEs who collaborate with us, this monthly income is allocated for supporting the training and education process at Kampung Marketer.
Currently we are trying to collaborate with more SMEs in Indonesia, with this collaboration with more SMEs we can receive more monthly income.
As we would like to expand our social enterprises and give more chance to village youth, we are participating in the grants event, this award will be used for improving some equipment and we also on developing apps to support the working process of human resource and SMEs.
In 2020 Kampung Marketer is using funds from 2 sources, there are:
1. Last year revenue which is total $160,027.59
2. Prize from Hyundai Challenge around $7135.72
We are seeking funds around $100,000 to support our team with below details usage:
We would like to develop mobile apps to support human resources working with SMEs. This application will make Kampung Marketer easier to control around 3800 village youth and 2070 SMEs within the next five years. We will allocate $ 27,500 with the below amount per year.
2. We will use the funds for marketing and promoting Kampung Marketer total $25,000, by promoting and marketing we can attract more SMEs to join with us as we are targeting 2070 SMEs will join with us within the next five years.
3. We will use the funds for buying equipment for supporting the training process of 3800 village youth. For this equipment we will allocate $10,000
4. We will allocate $5,000 for Education / Training 3800 village youth, the education / training costs include as below list:
Team building and soft skills training
E-commerce Training cost.
Training for instructors costs.
5. We will allocate $15,000 from the funds for expenses of digital marketing, training instructors.
6. For supporting our working, we will allocate $5,000 from the funds for general expenses, such as Internet fees, subscription Fees with bellow allocation
7. We will allocate $10,000 from the grant for rental of the training centers.

By applying for the Elevate Prize, we are trying to get help to support our solution especially in funds. We would like to expand and help more village youth in our village and my districts if possible to give them jobs in the e-commerce field.
We will maximize the funds to support village youth. As of now we are using social media chat to follow up and update the work between village youth and SMEs, by this year we are going to make apps to make communication and the way of working more efficient. We will utilize the funds for attracting more SMEs to join with us by seeing our promotion through online media a.
Our hope is that more SMEs are attracted and joined with us, they will require more human resources from our village.
