Micro neural circuit transplantation-MNT
This surgical modality will benefit patients with paralysis, comatose patients and with neurodegenerative diseases. In recent pandemic we have seen people with these underlying disorders had increased mortality due to underlying conditions. Thus by this solution we will be reducing deaths in upcoming pandemics.

Problem within the challenge-
Covid-19 has been known to cause stroke in some patients. This surgical modality will help those people having stroke with paralysis or comatose patients. Patients with neurological deficits like paralysis and coma have a increased fatality rate considered to healthy persons in any pandemic.
Scale of problem within the community-
Globally there are 80 million people living with experienced stroke . Every year 5 million people either die of stroke or are permanently disabled. MNT will improve the quality of life those disabled people and people living with neurodegenerative diseases and reduce the amounts of death due to stroke or traumatic brain injury.
Factors leading to problem-
People in both developing country and developed country are having an unhealthy lifestyle.
There are genetic factors leading to neurodegenerative diseases and aging process which leads to both stroke and neurodegenerative diseases.
Traumatic brain injury can be due to accidents.
Statistics of problem-
In 2013, the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation unveiled staggering statistics based on research into the prevalence of paralysis across the U.S.
According to the study, there are nearly 1 in 50 people living with paralysis – approximately 5.4 million people. That's the same number of people as the combined populations of Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. And that number is nearly 40 percent higher than previous estimates showed.
Target population-
People living with paralysis and coma, neurodegenerative diseases are target population.
This target population amounts to about 80 million.
The target population has a bad quality of life. This project seeks to improve the quality of life in the target population.
- Proof of Concept: A venture or organisation building and testing its prototype, research, product, service, or business/policy model, and has built preliminary evidence or data
- Biotechnology / Bioengineering
Public good-
Through this surgical modality the quality of life of neurological deficit patients will be increased. They will participate in jobs and will futher development and economy of country.
Activities -
We will carry out Micro neural circuit transplantation in patients with neurological deficits due to any cause.
Outcome-
This patients will have a better quality of life.
Output-
This patients will be doing jobs once their quality of life is restored and will participate in country's development and economy. They will also have lower mortality rates in future pandemics.
1 yr after developing-
5-10 million people suffer stroke each year . This project will benefit them.
3 yrs after developing-
According to WHO 80 million people have experienced stroke somehow. 80 million people can be benefited.
Plan to achieving goals-
Neurosurgeons should be trained to carry out this surgery. Neural circuit banks to be setup. Neural circuit donation to be done. This surgery to be carried out in every possible tertiary health centre.
Indicators to be measured-
1)COOP Charts;
2) Euroqol
3) Frenchay Activities Index; 4) Karnofsky Performance Status Scale
4) McMaster Health Index Questionnaire;
5) Medical Outcomes Study 20-Item Short-Form Health Survey
6) Nottingham Health Profile; 7) Quality of Life Index
8) Quality of Well-being Scale
9)the Sickness Impact Profile
Refferences-

Barriers-
1) Funding issues - We lack sufficient funds to develop this project.
2) Setup - We lack a proper setup in India to carry out this project safely.
Plans to overcome barriers-
We need a appropriate funds and MIT lab setup to carry out our project safely.
- Academic or Research Institution
