The Problem to be solved is the lack of statistical knowledge to be able to make informed decisions in this 21st century digital big data environment. I am proposing to provide statistical literacy training at no cost to under-served populations through Zoom courses. My solution would give under-served populations a base line of knowledge to make informed decisions from research studies and media coverage involving statistical concepts. * Under-served populations include: People of Color

What specific problem are you solving?

Lack of statistical literacy in under-served communities. This lack leads to poor decision-making when statistics and graphics are presented. The poor decision-making perpetuates poverty and health crisis.

What is your solution?

I propose to teach digital literacy classes for community leaders and advocates to in then teach others so that individuals and communities will be able to interpret information in this media-intensive and data-rich environments. The classes would include statistical methods of central tendency, dispersion, location, construction of graphics and use of spreadsheet applications.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

Solution serves under-served populations and people of color. The solution trains be them to train others, as well as, to be able to hear about statistical based studies in the media and be able to make decisions. This is needed to prevent the trusting in stereotype, past historical events, and intuition to guide decisions. It increase overall literacy in the 21st century and works to negate math phobias.

Prevent the spread of misinformation and inspire individuals to protect themselves and their communities, including through information campaigns and behavioral nudges.

The solution allows under-served and communities of color to react to health pandemics and crisis with informed decision mentality based on an understanding of the statistical information they are presented with for social and community literacy and decision-making.

Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea.

Explain why you selected this stage of development for your solution.

The model is a proven concept but needs to be piloted in a diverse community of people of color to tweak or revise the model to fit communities in which literacy in general may be problematic.
