Izere Education
The Education given to most under resourced schools in Africa does not prepare children enough for the disruptive future of work which will leave a huge un employed young population languishing in poverty.
Izere Academy is dedicated to skilling under resourced children with skills for the future through an online platform that could be accessed both online and offline at a very low cost, safe equitable learning space.
These children will be able to thrive in the gig economy and will be globally competent and confident alongside their age mates and fellow young people globally. They won't be part of the unemployment statistics and their communities will be transformed.
Uganda is a a small country with a huge population of 47 million as of 2021. 75% of the population is below 30 years with high unemployment among the youth. Uganda needs to create 700,000 jobs yet only creates 75,000 jobs each year.
An education that doesn't ably prepare children for opportunities in the global job market and the growing gig economy. If this isn't addressed it can only get worse. This is a big challenge across Africa in underserved communities.
Giving these children an education that prepares them for the future of work globally will be transformational.
Unfortunately this kind of learning opportunities beyond the compulsory examinable is not available for more than half of Uganda's and Africa's young population.
Izere Academy is a blended online and offline community where under resourced children will meet , learn, interact with peers and learn through collaborative projects all aiming at skilling them with skills the future of work needs beyond the classroom. Through the solution thinkers program , children will learn problem solving and will be able to prototype and implement their solutions as part of their study.
Through videos, digital content, projects, a community of support , a learner will go through the self paced learning modules and complete projects and advance through the platform to a level they can be outsourced to offer solutions. At low cost daily, weekly or monthly subscription they can access the platform with low connectivity.
Izere Academy serves children from 5 years to 17 years. The children going through k-12 and those in lower secondary school and those out of formal school. Most of these children are in underserved low cost over populated public schools whose learning outcomes don't give a child any opportunity in the global gig economy because of lack of skills and knowledge.
We have spent the last three years trying the curriculum and the time we take these young people through the training, exponential growth in knowledge and skills has been experienced.
We are now taking it online to serve more underserved children in low connectivity areas where the learning outcomes are way below standards.
The solution will give them a safe learning space, that gives them experimental learning , peer support, access to technology and personal development in areas of confident building.
- Enable access to quality learning experiences in low-connectivity settings—including imaginative play, collaborative projects, and hands-on experiments.
Children in under served communities need a learning platform that can be accessed even without internet. They study in highly populated classes that don't give them quality learning experiences which doesn't give them any skills their future of work needs.
