Planting 10 000 subtropical fruit trees.

10 000 subtropical fruit trees namely: 5000 avocado, 3000 mango and 2000 litchi fruit trees. Grafted fruit tree seedlings will be ready for harvestin in 2 to 3 years. Fruits will be for export quality in 5 years, export to Europe and Asia which is growing market for these fresh produce. In addition to improving food security for Eswatini (Formerly Swaziland), planting fruit trees will act as carbon dioxide sink & assist slow down the effect of global climate change & global warming.

Solutions to be solved include: Food security- closing the gap between imported fresh produce and exported fresh produce, reducing food prices, High youth unemployment - The rate currently stands at 60% and results in increasing crime rate and Carbon dioxide sink - Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide require a sink such as trees planted in large scale to slow down and eventually reverse global warming.

The solution is to plant 10 000 fruit trees annually for the next 5 years on 100 Ha of land. A well equipped packhouse will be required for this solution including blast freezers to allow less fresh produce to be lost post harvest and food preserved for longer. The main idea is to plant fruit trees and start harvesting fruits in 2 or 3 years, have them packeged and delivered to markets. Y

Being a young person running a mixed farming business known as Greenhill Estates, I hope to scale up our Enterprise from selling vegetables such as cabbage and tomatoes to the local informal market to exporting fruits to Europe and Asia. This will inspire other youth to take up agribusiness as a means to combat the exceedingly high unemployment rate, improve their living standard's while ensuring Swaziland is food secure.

There is an increasing demand for fresh fruit produce in Europe and Asia. This presents an opportunity to supply fruits to a population with buying power. Our solution is to plant 10 000 fruit trees annually to be harvested after 3 years. This will create employment opportunities for the youth and improve food security. It will also enhance the ecosystem by creating a carbon dioxide sink.

I represent a mixed farming business wholly youth owned that supplies vegetables such as cabbage, green beans, tomatoes and green peppers to the local market and is looking for an opportunity to scale and produce export quality fruits and vegetables that will meet global GAP standard's.
