Virtual Reality System used to train teachers for teaching Autistic children.

The education for autistic children has been facing different problems for a long time, especially in China. The autistic children outnumber the special education and service available for them by far, causing the insufficiency of resources for autistic children. In addition, the quality of the education is problematic as well. The organizations for autistic children are generally lacking trained teachers, and many of them are private organizations, which are usually insufficient and not registered regularly. In order to the problem of insufficient training for the teachers on how to interact and work with autistic student, we want to create a Virtual Reality system that can simulate autistic children with different conditions. Teachers using this system can interact with the autistic children in the virtual world, learn how to communicate with them and teach them, and even dealing with emergency. With this system, teachers will be much more prepared before they start teaching autistic students in real world, improving the quality of specialized education for autistic children. This will make the education for autistic children in China both more efficient and more effective.

In our solution, we utilize the existing researches about the application of Virtual Reality on autistic children and develop a new system that can be used widely both in the service centers and on people's phones. The system will help the children learn knowledge and recover as well.

We also want to develop a similar innovative system for the training of teachers who teach autistic children. Teachers will interact with autistic children in the virtual world and become more experienced.

In our solution, we mainly Virtual Reality. We use the Interactive Virtual Reality that also requires VR equipment for teaching and training in the autistic children service center. We also want to develop an app for autism education that can be used on people's phone, and the children can use the phone with cardboard to reach the effects of Immersive Virtual Reality (similar to Google Cardboard).

We expect the education and training systems to be finished in the first 8 months, and meanwhile we will advertise our product. And in the last 4 months, we will put our products into practical use, first in Chengdu, China. By the end of the 12 months, we expect the major autistic children service centers in Chengdu to be using our product, and most families with autistic children in Chengdu will also use our VR app.

In the next three to five years, we expect our product to be wildly used in the autistic children service centers in the urban area of China. Our VR app will also be used in the most families with autistic children in China. The children we are serving will be recovering better and learning more knowledge after using our product for a while. The teachers will also be more experienced and prepared after the training process with our product. We also expect our product to start a new trend of educational application in China.

We will first contact with the autistic children major service centers in Chengdu, China, meanwhile we will also advertise our app mainly on social medias. Once the major service centers in Chengdu start using our products and have some positive results, we will use them to advertise our products to other cities, first the top cities like Beijing and Shanghai, then other urban areas. We will also keep seeking better ways to help autistic children with VR and keep updating our system to retain our customers.

We expect to be serving 1,000 in 12 months, and 10,000 in 3 years. These children will be using the Interactive VR system in the autistic children service center, and the Immersive VR app at home. With some successful experiments of VR application on autistic children, such as Street World, we expect our systems to help the children we are serving to be recovering faster and learning knowledge easier after 3 months using our product, and this effect will continues. The teachers using our system will also be ready to teach quicker and more experienced when they start.

Our team have a very strong passion about what we are working on. All of us are worried about the education for autistic children in China, and we are sure that we will work the hardest to try to solve the problem. In addition, we also have people with some background knowledge. One of us have done projects about autism, and another member of our group is very strong at computer science. We also have great communication skills. We already contact with Vive successfully about our partnership.

Currently we are not for-profit, but we will sell our products and with the money earned we will use them on researching, developing our systems, and advertising. With the updates and more advertising, we will have more buyer and therefore more money in order to reach sustainability. We are going to start in Chengdu, then expand to the largest cities like Beijing and Shanghai, then other urban areas. Once our products have covered the urban area in China, we will start to expand our product to rural area as well as other countries.
