Centre de Formation et d'Action pour le Développement. CFAD
- Congo, Dem. Rep.
In the event that my candidacy is selected, the funding will bring a lasting solution to the major challenge of our community. It will be a question of building a multipurpose center (Socio-educational and professional) and equipping it, this center will be used for the supervision of girls who have had children as adolescents ( Mothers daughters); children born of sexual violence without fixed identities; children separated from armed groups, pygmy children and other vulnerable children who assume the role of head of households. After the construction, we will move on to the stage of making a plea through the forums of popular expression on the registration of children in civil status in order to allow these children to also enjoy Congolese nationality. Indeed, it should also be pointed out that the presence of this center will not only solve the problem of education but will also ensure economic self-care. This funding will have a great impact in the post-conflict territory of Kalehe groupement de Kalonge.
My story is very long personally, I will only give you a briefing, I was born in the village of Kalonge in 1984 I married and father of 9 children, I lived as an orphan, my mother and my father separated when I was 6 years old, I lived in the streets for more than three years, I studied with difficulty, following the sufferings in 1996 I was recruited into the Congolese army while still a teenager, I was demobilized in 2004 , when I left the army, I returned to school, so I met a group of young people in a philanthropic structure only for children who work in the mines, I was integrated and I started a remedial school initiative for children living in the street and teenage girl mothers, we have set up 2 school remedial centers and a literacy circle for adults, our goal is to enable all children to have access to education in a safe and protective environment, we did a great job, which earned us an honorary award in 2016; now our vision is to fight social inequalities and promote inclusiveness. Anyway, that's my story.
In fact, to be brief,it should be noted that South Kivu is among the provinces in recurrent crisis in the DRC.The territory of Kalehe in the Kalonge village has seen many cases of sexual violence and the recruitment of children and young people into armed groups, the multiple displacements do not even speak of it,also adds the Covid-19,a large number of especially vulnerable children do not have access to education, hence early and forced marriages remain current in this territory. The various surveys carried out by humanitarian workers in Kalehe territory show that there is a great need for education and supervision of young people in order to slow down their recruitment into armed groups. The territory of Kalehe, there is a category of children and adolescents who do not have the right to education, such as adolescent girl mothers, children born of sexual violence and children released from armed group. By subscribing to ODD4 and the convention on the rights of the child and the universal convention on human rights,it is important to think about an another mechanism to frame these children, from which there must be a presence of '' a multipurpose center with different sectors to ensure financial autonomy.
Since all approaches and techniques of educational intervention are not equally effective with adolescent delinquents and with behavioral disorders, judicious choices must be made by the CFAD organization and professionals. For example, psychosocial support during remedial schooling and during vocational training, often used alone, has proven to be much more effective with adolescent delinquents or with severe behavioral disorders than cognitive-behavioral approaches.
What makes us different from others in our interventions is the categories of people we supervise and who are our target. These include, among others, children released from armed forces and groups, children born of sexual violence, indigenous children (Pygmies) and other abandoned vulnerable children; such as teenage mothers.
The approach we propose, therefore, is a cognitive and behavioral approach. We add the dimension of “emotional regulation”. This addition is supported by the idea of building a Multipurpose Center that will serve as a lasting solution and that will make the award very visible over the years. This approach has never been used in the territory of Kalehe, it is a sustainable approach.
As we have already explained in the previous parts, the actions of CFAD have a positive impact in the communities. For this Award, it will consist of the construction of a multipurpose center which will serve not only for remedial education, psychosocial support, literacy, but also professional supervision for children who are no longer able school age. It should be noted that the steps we had not already had, we had identified the vulnerable children in Kalonge, we organized several times the advocacy workshops with the local authorities on the taking of these children. We have a database for that. Let me tell you that we are happy with your award, if God gives us the grace to be selected, you will be aware of the impact your award has had in the community.
