My partner and I are currently funding MORE Latinoamérica. Between 2020-2021 More Latinoamérica has benefited over 9,500 people through our Masterclasses, Diplomas and articles, all of which have been offered to the Latino community (around the world) free of charge.
If we win the Raysa award, we can dedicate ourselves full time to the organization, as we both have jobs thus far. She is a training coordinator at Adopem NGO based in the Dominican Republic and I am an Adjunct Instructor in the U.S.
Specifically, we will use the prize to:
1.-To pay the administrative costs of the NGO: payment of salaries to the founders, payment of platforms, payment of advertising for the masterclasses.
2.-We would increase the masterclasses and above all its diffusion. Students would have free certificates of participation
3.-We would massively disseminate the More-Mujer award “recognizing great women in Latin America”
4.-We would launch "Programa 5" aimed at women in rural areas or those with poor internet connectivity.
5.-We would continue to promote the free Youth Leadership Diploma and we would introduce courses with scholarships for our students.
6.-We would implement training programs focused on the personal and professional development of women.
In 2001 I won a scholarship to Manhattanville College in NY in the GSL (Global Student Leadership) program. The objective of the program is to empower young women. I later returned to Mexico and founded several companies and replicated these types of programs in my country. I grew up a lot professionally and personally. Unfortunately my ex-husband didn't grow up professionally and made the bad decision to kidnap humself in 2009. This action led to being without companies and without a house. He ran away and for a year I was depressed, however, little by little I got back in control of my life and I owe that to the GSL program.
From that event my life purpose became clearer: empowering women through training. In 2012 I moved to the USA, and now I am a PhD candidate in Education and now I am a teacher at UAA (University of Alaska, Anchorage). I tried to replicate these programs several times, however I was unsuccessful because they are very expensive, so I figured out a way to bring the knowledge acquired in these programs, but leveraged in the digital context of online training, creating MORE Latin America.
UN Women declares that the Latin American and Caribbean region has the highest levels of income inequality in the world, with wide gaps in living standards across countries, sectors, and socioeconomic spheres. Considering this critical context CARE And the UN affirms that ensuring gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in the response to COVID-19 is central to its sustainability and effectiveness.
Our mission is to achieve gender equity through online training. The topics in which we specialize include: Emotional intelligence, nutrition, homeschool, marketing, leadership, self-esteem, business, assertive communication, social entrepreneurship, ASD, personal finance, empowerment, gender equality, meaning of gender violence, etc.
The objective of the masterclasses, articles and diploma courses is to develop women's potential, self-confidence, leadership and entrepreneurial attitude that will allow them, through various tools, to become professionals and more capable people with a vision of positive impact on themselves, society and their environment.
Our target is Latino women around the world. You can visit our testimonials page to see how we have improved the lives of women.
Women from the USA (Spanish speaking), Spain, Ecuador, Mexico, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Honduras, Bolivia, etc. have benefited. We have conducted over 50 Masterclasses live and free.
In addition to the above, MORE has supported with 4 youth leadership diplomas. They have a duration of 6 weeks and the modules are as follows:
- Self-esteem and motivation
- Leadership
- Communication and professional development
- Social networks and personal branding
- Enterprise
Graduates have awarded 100 per cent scholarship to 110 Latino women between the ages of 18 and 23.
MORE has been able to create a network of support and we have consolidated strategic alliances that have helped to connect thousands of women through our social networks.
MORE Latinamérica has over 60 collaborators, all of whom are Spanish-speaking professionals who have donated their time to give masterclasses, write articles and support various activities.
An innovation, at least in Latin America, is that it is an NGO that promotes gender equity, including the male gender. 90% of our collaborators and members are women, however, there are 10% of men who are interested in achieving gender equity.
According to OXFAM´s report, quality education exerts considerable power in increasing equality between women and men. Education can help address gender disparities in income, poverty level, reproductive autonomy and political power. It can dramatically improve the health of women and their children. The higher the educational level of women, the closer their income is closer to that of men. The higher the educational level of women, the more they exercise power over their own lives, especially with regard to the age at which they marry and the number of children they have. The higher the educational level of women, the greater their health and that of their children when they are mothers. Quality education has the power to question traditional social behaviors.
MORE is dedicated to the training of young women and older women. The testimonies of our employees, members and young people of the diploma show us that we have improved their lives through training actions. Education is a tool that empowers women and this has a positive impact on achieving gender equality.
