KulamuSana Association.
- Mozambique
Orphans are among the most vulnerable in Mozambique, where the number of orphans who have lost one or both parents is estimated at 2 million. Another 700,000 children are at risk of being abandoned due to the fact that their caregivers are elderly, HIV in the family and / or deteriorating socio-economic circumstances. Poverty and the orphan crisis also contribute to exploitative child labor.
I am applying for the award, in order to support orphaned and vulnerable adolescents and young people, submitting them to vocational courses. They are exposed to risky behavior, including commercial sex or premature marriage. Mozambique has one of the highest rates of child marriage in the world, affecting almost one in two girls, and has the second highest rate in the sub-region of East and Southern Africa. About 48% of women in Mozambique aged between 20 and 24 have already been married or have been in a union before age 18 and 14% before age 15 (IDS, 2011).
The program, through the prize, aims to train young Orphans and Vulnerable people economically through Professional Technical Training, integrated to Entrepreneurship and Foramacao, making dreams come true for orphaned and vulnerable young people without life expectancy.

Associacao Kulamusana is a new organization founded in 2019, currently working with 10 volunteers and 4 technical team. We are working on a voluntary basis due to insufficient funds.
The activists, as well as the technical team, are not paid, we are all doing voluntary work.
We are working through community radio, sensitizing teenagers and young people about SRH and HIV. At SSR we talk about premature marriage, sexuality.
About HIV we talk about the importance of adhering to ART treatment, adherence and retention. But we are working without any funding.
The new approach and to identify vulnerable young people and support. The most vulnerable have been left behind. Work with them to raise awareness in order to believe in a better future.
In the Program we will have activists and Social Assistants, each participant will have a specific role.
The activist: has the role of mapping young orphans and vulnerable people and raising awareness in order to join the program. on the other hand, disseminate messages of behavior change in the community through lectures, distribution of pamphlets, with the aim of increasing the level of knowledge of adolescents and young people and parents and caregivers and referring them to other services. The activist also has the role of working with the Social Action focal point in identifying them.
Social Worker: The Social Worker will be responsible for providing Psychosocial support and specialized care, also conducting individual and group sessions of patients on SRH and HIV, training of parents and caregivers of beneficiaries.
