Bautista Project Inc

The Bautista Project Inc will use the award to provide educational resources to community members in need. Education is one of the most important aspects as to why homeless community members cannot thrive. Many lack the academic education to overcome their situation, the financial knowledge on how to maintain a living budget, and the support they need to feel confident in themselves. The Bautista Project will provide an in-person curriculum to help homeless community members to cultivate a positive and productive future.

Founded by U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ulisses Bautista and his spouse Marla Bautista, The Bautista Project began as a mission to provide hygiene bags and meals to homeless community members. It soon blossomed into an organization providing meals, hygiene products, educational support, and other basic living essentials to the homeless.

Ending homelessness isn't some lofty ideal; it's an attainable goal. Hillsborough County, FL has a population of more than 1.4 million people. Of that, more than 1500 people are considered homeless. The homeless population consists mostly of males of Caucasian descendants, closely followed by Black males. 

According to the 2019 Homeless Point-in-Time Count conducted by Tampa Hillsborough Homeless Initiative (THHI), Tampa-Hillsborough County’s homeless statistics are 1,450 homeless men, women, and children.

At the Bautista Project Inc, our strategy to end homelessness is simple. We use a phase system that allows us to create individualized plans that address the specific needs of a homeless individual. By identifying, classifying, housing, supplementing, and supporting people experiencing homelessness, we will be empowering them to progress to the next level of their lives, the pursuit of happiness. 

The Bautista Project Inc team members are building individualized plans that cater to each homeless person’s specific needs. Creating a program that will help them thrive and successfully reintegrate into work and home. 

Bautista Project Inc has boots on the ground, listening and mentoring homeless community members and displaced youth. Serving and empowering the homeless community members so that they can take better care of themselves. Because that's the goal, right?  

We connect people experiencing homelessness to housing assistance and services tailored to their unique needs and strengths to help them achieve and maintain stable housing and an even more sustainable lifestyle.

The Bautista Project Inc delivered 5000 meals (Snack Paxx) to homeless community members in Colorado Springs, CO, Watertown, Syracuse, NY, and Tampa, FL. 

Hygiene 

The Bautista Project has provided 2620 hygiene kits (Belonging Boxes and Belonging Bags).

Blankets and Pillows

54 Belonging Blankets and Pillows delivered to at-risk youth living outside their natural homes in Watertown, NY, and Tampa, FL.

Clothing, Shoes, and Accessories

The Bautista Project Inc delivered 697 pairs of socks, 150 pairs of underwear, 36 pairs of shoes, 30 reusable water bottles to at-risk (displaced youth) and homeless community members.

Long term support services are as unique as the individuals needing them. The Bautista Project Inc will provide long-term support services for clients for up to 24 months. This time frame is crucially imperative to our clients’ success, as many homeless individuals re-enter homelessness between 17 and 24 months if left unsupported. Support will be given based on an individual’s needs and will be tapered until the 24-month mark. If needed, the individuals can always attend support groups or new classes after completing the program.
