I have invented a “Waste Assimilator” through which a ‘convergence’ is developed between the ‘waste management and organic farming’. Through the use of “Waste Assimilator” (Patent C.B.R. No. 13952), all the daily generated biodegradable solid waste including ‘kitchen waste’, ‘fruit & vegetable waste’, ‘meat & fish waste’, ‘agricultural waste’, ‘garden waste’, ‘forest waste’, ‘leaf-litters’, ‘aquatic plant waste’, ‘cattle dung’ etc. can be utilized at source to produce ‘Organic Manure cum Bio-pesticide’ in the form of ‘Microbial-Wash’ from 2nd days of use, ‘Vermi-Wash’ after 25th days of use (on daily basis) and finally ‘Vermicompost’ after 120 days as the end product to practice organic farming in every household.  

Due to the use of “Waste Assimilator”, indiscriminate dumping of solid waste in the drain, roadside and low lying areas can be protected; burning of solid waste including Agricultural waste for reducing the volume can be prohibited and more than 80% household solid waste problems can be solved at source as resource to practice organic farming in every nook and corner.

If selected as winner, I would use the Elevate Prize funding and support to initiate an Organically Green & Healthy World with Sustainable Food for feeding the Planet with adequate nutrients.

At the present scenario due to the ‘throw-away society’, huge quantity of biodegradable solid waste are simply wasted day by day and accordingly mixed with the plastic and other non-biodegradable solid waste to form huge ‘waste land’ and ‘toxic land’. In this process natural ‘food chain’ systems are disturbed which is ultimately affecting the entire ecosystem of the world. To prevent the present situation, there was an urgent need to innovate a technology for “Decentralized Biodegradable Solid Waste Management and to Practice Organic Farming in Every Household & Community”.

To fulfill the requirement, Dr. Amarjyoti Kashyap founder president of ENVIRON (a nongovernmental organization) has invented a “Waste Assimilator” (Patent C.B.R. No. 13952)   to produce ‘bio-pest repellent’ and ‘organic manure’ on daily basis from the daily generated biodegradable solid waste. Invention of “Waste Assimilator” is now developed guideline to practice organic farming in every nook and corner through the utilization of abundantly available daily generated biodegradable solid waste. Accordingly, the ‘produces’ of the “Waste Assimilator” is going to abolish the present concept of inorganic farming and the use of chemical pesticide. Thus, the invention of “Waste Assimilator” has initiated the concept of “Waste Management and Organic Farming” everywhere in the world.

At the present global scenario, biodegradable solid waste along with the plastic and other non-biodegradable solid waste are creating huge ‘waste land’ and ‘toxic land’ day by day. In this process huge quantity of agricultural waste, food waste & other organic biodegradable solid waste are simply wasted day by day which can be utilized as resource for practicing organic farming.

The World Health Organization has defined food security as “when all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe, nutritious food to maintain a healthy and active life.” Only organic farming can provide us a viable option for feeding the planet with adequate nutrients.

On the other hand as of 2019, only 1.4 percent of total world farmland was farmed organically. Whereas, due to the lack of adequate amount of organic manure and bio-pest repellent, it was practically not possible to practice organic farming to replace the present conventional inorganic farming.

Therefore, there was an urgent need to innovate a technology to produce ‘organic manure’ and ‘bio-pesticide’/‘bio-pest repellent’ by utilizing the abundantly available daily generated biodegradable solid waste including food and agricultural waste to promote organic farming everywhere in the world for feeding the planet with adequate nutrients

 “Waste Assimilator” has a ‘Sloped Base’, ‘Aeration Layer’, ‘Composting Bed’, ‘Ventilation’ and ‘Outlet’. Unlike the other ‘Composting’  and ‘Vermicomposting’ device, “Waste Assimilator” is an improved and very simple technology for decomposing the daily generated biodegradable solid waste through natural aerobic microbial digestion and assimilation by the Earthworm. It does not require any additives like ‘Water Soaking Materials’ and ‘Microbes’; ‘No shredding’, ‘No rotation’ of the waste is required; long lasting concrete device  with zero maintenance cost;  it produces ‘microbial-wash’ from 2 to 3 days of use; ‘vermi-wash’ from 25 days till the assimilation process continues and finally ‘vermicompost’ after 120 days. Capacity of domestic “Waste Assimilator” is 3kg biodegradable solid waste per day for 90 days per “Waste Assimilator”; whereas capacity of community “Waste Assimilator” is 100kg biodegradable solid waste per day for 90 days per chamber.

At the present scenario, most of the solid waste management projects are failed due to the lack of active individual participation. Considering the fact, ENVIRON has designed ‘DECENTRALIZED SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT’ in a professional way to attract individual participation by generating individual benefits to achieve sustainability. In this process beneficiary households are now managing solid waste due to their own benefits

Ever since the ill-effects of global warming, excessive deforestation and widespread pollution, indiscriminate dumping of solid waste, inorganic farming and use of chemical pesticides have started taking a toll on our environment, where there is an urgent need for developing organic, sustainable means for our better survival. This is why growing organic vegetables and recycling biodegradable waste should be our top priority as implemented by ENVIRON, if we focus on reversing the negative impact on our depleting ecosystem.

Due to the invention of “Waste Assimilator”, it has now become possible to transform daily generated biodegradable solid waste into something productive like ‘Microbial-wash’, ‘Vermi-wash’ (on daily basis) and finally ‘Vermicompost’ which finds application in Organic Farming. Moreover, most of the people in our society do not like to take additional burden of segregating waste at source if there is no benefit involved. In this connection, ENVIRON comes as a beam of light for people willing to take that step to protect nature & ecosystem. Remarkably, ENVIRON is now promoting Decentralized Waste Management and Organic Farming including Domestic Organic Tea Gardening to produce ‘Green Tea’ in every household to enhance self immunity with adequate nutrients and to fight against diseases including Covid-19.
