They are of different types such as common warts, filliform warts,Plantar warts,Flat warts etc. This is becoming common in the population.Currently acid treatment, cryotherapy, electrocautery, laser surgery treatments are used.Acid treatment is cheap and efficient method than others.cryotherapy is also used widely. They are a bit complicated procedures. In the acid treatment ,traditional methods are still followed in most of the indian hospitals. They use pricks to prick the wart and apply the acid directly.hence patients face skin burns, non uniform dose, drug evaporation,no penetrationetc. There is a lack of affordable and efficient drug delivery device in the indian market.

What specific problem are you trying to solve?

Currently the users of existing treatments have to come to hospitals often for all types of treatment.some times acids are given to home.but lack of a device makes it more difficult for the patient to use it.Acids are highly concentrated.

Acid treatment:

Acids will come in bottles-pricks are used to prick the wart-vaseline is applied to premises before application-Acid is applied to the wart.Since it is followed by traditional method, patients face discomfort and other challenges

Cryotherapy:

It is done with a device,by making the patient anesthetised locally. It is a complicated procedure and can be minimized. The patient have to go to hospital for the purpose.not completely curable method. The wart is freezed here and removed,Cannot be performed in all parts of the body

electrocautery:

It is similar like electrocautery, but done using a different device.where the warts are removed .It is a complicated procedure.Patients have to come to hopsitals.Cannot be performed in all parts of the body.

Who does your solution serve? In what ways will the solution impact their lives?

Our product currently are only targeting warts patients,To make them treat the wart at home with help of no other people and minimizing all the exisiting problems such as acid spillage and skin burns,Non uniformity and less efficacy,No penetration power and unability of drug to reach the site etc.

The average indian patients need treatment in a userfriendly and affordable way.If something can be done to minimize all the problems they face now and make the treatment smoother and even affordable than international market products, then why not.

We are targeting 10 million cases per year common wart patients,if not 1% of the total cases per year.We will create awareness among the population about different skin diseases and other consequences about the same.We will educate the people.Because most of the indians neglect these problems.unrealisation and nobody to educate made them to take all the things as granted.

If the problem becomes a success,we are also targeting different other skin diseases where these challenges are facing, where the parts where oral medications are not reaching where the bllod vessels are absent. The development will be done with the stakeholders opinions, experiences and desires throughout the journey .Even different formulations can be tested for the same using the product.

What steps have you taken to understand the needs of the population you want to serve?

We did Field visits to understand the problems deeply. We volunteered with Research scientists,Dermatologists,Pharmacists,Patients,Nurses to understand the problem more deeply. The Stakeholders expect a product where they use deliver the drug in a more efficient way to the wart thereby increasing the effectiveness of the Treatment.

We were closely worked with Research Scientists,Dermatologists of Mangalore region of Karntaka,India.

We really worked close with the stakeholders about the design it should come out.Since End user satisfaction is our primary goal. The Stakeholders were much interested than us in demostrating the existing methods of treatment and advising us what it should look like. The stakeholders were also expressed the serious interest to host clinical trials if the product prototyping is done. The doctors does not have technical knowledge, they said us what to do and how it should look like.it was our challenge to find a person to design a prototype where it was 3D designed.Again it should be done few alterations and validations from stakeholders, then we are going for prototyping and clincial trials of the product.

Which aspects of the Challenge does your solution most closely address?

*what is your solution continuation:

In the foreign market it is available, but it costs a lot for indian patient and it will never be affordable to an average indian. Here we come with a drug delivery device with controlled drug release and with a feature where patient can use it with no other peoples help..Currently available products are Above $100 in the foreign markets.with the clinical trials and end users experience is possible we are also extending the devices for different dermatological where patients face different challenges.
