Educational digital cable box

One-line solution summary.

A digital cable box with a educational program that will help the low-income people to get the best educacion posible.

What is your solution?

My proposal it’s to break out the current educational system and make it reachable for more people, taking advantage of the existing technology which as been old, has all the infrastructure already built and will be easy to transform.

My solution is a digital cable box, it will have all the education from pre-school to high-school, it will come with digital and pdf books and all the tools someone could need to learn.

on this digital cable box is going to be all the education necessary sorted from the basic to advanced, but out of the box, this program is not going to be divided by grades, it is going to be divided by subjects, and instead of ending a year of school you would have to get into certain level of a subject. This will help to resolve particularities educational system, making the students who are having problems with a particular subject; telling them to repeat the same all over again is not going to make them understand immediately, instead of that if the student is having problems with a subject, they can focus on that and find other ways of learn that subject.

What specific problem are you trying to solve?

particularities on economical, learning skills or standardization. on one hand, education is an economical problem to resolve, not only because is a matter each government in the word need to warranty but also because, public education is bad while good education is every time more expensive.

the lack of education for low-income people: All the students deserve a good level of education, but the low-income people don’t have the money to pay for that education, and if they don’t have a good education, they don’t have any way of getting out of their situation.

Usually when we think of education, we think of a classroom full of children and with a teacher, so then, what are we paying for? are we paying for fancy classrooms? bigger buildings? or are we paying for actual education? it should be concentrated on the amount of information and how useful it can be.

Who does your solution serve? In what ways will the solution impact their lives?

My solution serves people that doesn’t have easy access to internet and education, it serves people that doesn’t have enough time to go a school, it serves all that people that want to educate themselves but doesn’t have the money to pay for a good level of education and it serve all those women that didn’t had the opportunity of going school and they never learn basic things as reading.

the impact that this solution could have is huge, this could open many opportunities to low-income people. help to go back to school people that had to leave their studies, and break study barriers.

What steps have you taken to understand the needs of the population you want to serve?

In 2019 I was on 6th grade, studying with the same Guatemalan educational program while in the middle of the year we find ourselves at home doing nothing because of pandemic. Unfortunately, with no experience, my old school was not able to stand the program and trying to give classes as it is regularly done, made us to waste much time learning less. even the teachers were learning how to make their class on line.

the past year my mother took the decision of put me on a completely different program, homeschooling, this school was completely online and it didn’t have any classes it just have homework. every class had around 200 or 300 students, some of them were adults. When I start to analyze the difficulty of the homework, I realized that the level of education of the school was really low, I was shocked because there were so many middle school students learning what I have learn on elementary school. so I determined, the complete system is failing as, I’m ahead on knowledge at my 13 years old while adults are learning elementary subjects. although, these adults are technicians that perform specific actions.

Explain why you selected this stage of development for your solution—in other words, what have you accomplished to date?

My project is just a concept because I haven’t had the opportunity of making it real so I don’t know if it maybe has some deficiencies, but because it is basic old tech; I trust on my project, after all it is plain to be something simple to help a big problem. i would say, we all know how the digital cable box work, as tv is so popular.
