With pandemics and gaps in student learning, what is proposed is Machine Learning to be a means to review student work as well as provide a learning tool for parents and caregivers. With online learning, students can be encouraged to take notes as active learning, where the notes can later be scanned in order to review attendance.
What is proposed is a way to scan handwritten assignments from the students working at home. The handwriting is analyzed by means of machine learning and matched to typed words. The system is ideal for early education applications. As the student improves in terms of handwriting, the machine learning process can essentially score the progress. While this is taking place, the student can work on workbooks, without computers or digital tablets, and interact with the progress.
The project is ideal for scenarios where there is limited internet bandwidth and computer technology.
The parents and caregivers can benefit from learning how the machine learning mechanism functions in terms of the academic as well as technological issues. The digital job skills with respect to machine learning is relatively well known. There is also the academic issues...for example, the matching of a handwritten words to typed words is essentially an isomorphism.
