The project for access of Transgender people to a source of income in the city of Uvira consists of the rehabilitation of a fish pond for the local rearing of Nile tilapias to promote their social inclusion. Indeed, Transgender people constitute a socially very vulnerable, malginalized, rejected and stigmatized layer, despite the ratification of the DR Congo to African charters on the promotion and protection of the rights of Transgender people. The latter do not have access to jobs to meet their vital needs because they are still considered a by-product of the human agent, because cultural values are not compromised to their assigned gender identities since the birth. Indeed, this project plans to identify 60 transgender people to set up fish farming through a new variety of short-cycle reproductive improved fry (tilapia nilotica or Nile tilapia, from its scientific name oreochromis niloticus), a land for the pond will be purchased, equipment to build a pond will be purchased, technical capacity building of beneficiaries in fish farming management is planned, a satinel will provide social security for the pond and fish food in the pond will be purchased. The beneficiaries will take care of the sale of the harvested fish which will enable them to create a micro-credit. it is an income regeneration project for Transgender people in the city of Uvira. The duration of the project is 12 months.
