This already complex issue takes on further layers when considering gender disparities and neurodiversity. The gender gap in STEM fields manifests early and persists throughout educational and career pathways, with boys twice as likely to show interest in STEM fields by middle school and five times more likely to pursue STEM careers in college. This gap is even more pronounced among low-income and immigrant communities, where girls often lack the resources, support, and role models to foster interest in STEM. Furthermore, neurodiverse students, including those with ADHD, face unique learning challenges that traditional educational experiences often fail to address. Despite possessing skills and perspectives that are highly desirable within STEM disciplines, these students remain significantly underrepresented in these fields, creating a multifaceted and intersectional challenge in STEM education equity.

Feynman is primarily designed to serve students from underrepresented demographics in the STEM field, including low-income students, minorities, first- and second-generation immigrants, and neurodiverse learners. As a response, the founder has involved her students in the development process of our current prototype.
