What specific problem are you solving?
Rology is addressing the problem of limited access to quality health services, specifically diagnostic imaging, in the fragile contexts of Kenya and Egypt, where health systems are strained due to systemic inequities and weak governance. Globally, 1.6 billion people are affected by such issues, leading to poor health outcomes
What is your solution?
The platform works by connecting health facilities in Kenya and Egypt with a global network of radiologists. Medical images, such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, are securely uploaded to the cloud, where they are processed by AI algorithms to identify potential anomalies and therefore, assist in diagnosis. Remote radiologists can then access the images, review the AI-generated insights, and provide their expert interpretation and recommendations.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves communities in fragile contexts, specifically those affected by weak governance, conflict, displacement, and systemic inequities. The target population includes underserved individuals such as women and girls, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, older adults, and those living in remote or conflict-affected areas.
These communities are currently underserved due to a shortage of healthcare professionals, particularly radiologists, insufficient infrastructure, and inadequate access to advanced diagnostic equipment. As a result, they often face delayed or incorrect diagnoses, leading to poor health outcomes and increased disease burden.
The AI-Assisted Rology Teleradiology Platform addresses the needs of the target population by:
