What specific problem are you solving?
Across Latin America, political participation is low and civic engagement is declining. This weakens democratic culture and fuels polarization, intolerance, and the spread of disinformation, increasing the risk of institutional fragility and authoritarian backsliding. The region faces not only an information gap, but a leadership gap.
What is your solution?
Politize! produces free and unbiased civic education content on the internet, trains civic leaders to become capable of solving public problems, equips teachers to educate youth in the process of becoming engaged citizens, and designs and implements strategic communication campaigns to influence behavior change and inform evidence-based public policy.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Politize! serves three primary groups: citizens seeking reliable civic information, emerging civic leaders, and educators and students within public education systems.
At scale, we reach Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking audiences across Latin America through free, nonpartisan civic education content. Over 113 million users have accessed our 5,000+ educational materials, and 872,000 people follow us across social media.
At the leadership level, we address a structural leadership gap by training civic leaders capable of mobilizing communities and solving public problems. In the past five years, we have trained more than 3,500 leaders who have directly impacted over 180,000 people through civic initiatives across 200+ cities in all 26 Brazilian states and the Federal District.
Within public education, we partner with eight State Departments of Education. Our School of Active Citizenship! program has benefited over 19,000 teachers and 269,000 students through curricular materials and teacher training, strengthening civic awareness and classroom engagement.
