What specific problem are you solving?

In Tanzania and globally, young mothers struggle with access to accurate sexual and reproductive health and rights information and services. About 27% of Tanzanian girls aged 15-19 begin childbearing, highlighting a global issue in low-income areas. Our solution tackles these challenges through supportive communities and education.

Young Mums Unite is an initiative that provides support groups for young mothers, creating a safe space where they can access sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) information, receive emotional support, and connect to essential services. Our solution is based on a community-centered approach that leverages the power of peer support and professional guidance to empower young mothers.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

Young Mums Unite serves 1,200+ marginalized mothers (15-24) across Shinyanga, Tabora, and Morogoro. Since 2023, we’ve scaled to 133 villages, transforming lives through a multi-regional, tech-enabled model. We provide safe support groups and 24/7 private SRHR access via an AI chatbot. Beyond health, we now integrate entrepreneurship training, empowering mothers to achieve financial independence and return to school. Partnering with Pathfinder International, we ensure direct healthcare access and reduce stigma. This holistic growth transforms isolated young women into healthy, financially stable community leaders, breaking the cycle of poverty for themselves and their children.
