TrashView

In Nnewi, Awka, Onitsha and Ekwulobia in Anambra State we have close to a population of 4million people and a continuous influx of people as these are the major cities in the state. Hence Waste collection and disposal has been come an issue for residents and waste disposal companies. In order to curb environmental pollution, diseases and flood caused by waste that were dumped on water channels so we designed a solution called TrashView.
Our Target is to be able to be in charge of providing innovative waste management solution in the nearest future to close to about 120million Nigerians living in the urban area.
Our TrashView is an IoT enabled smart bin that have sensors which can perform three functionalities. It has the fill level control, odour control and temperature control, so sends real time information to the users screen as regards the level, odour or temperature of the waste in the bin.
Our innovation provides waste disposal companies/handlers with real data of waste of a specific users location. They are able to see the level or status of the waste bin from anywhere. This will enable them to dispatch their workers to that particular location thereby reducing operational cost in terms of proper routing for their trucks and mitigating overflow of waste from the bin.
We are working towards addressing environmental pollution, spread of diseases and blockage of water channels with waste in the urban and emerging urban cities of close to 4million residents in Anambra State. And in the nearest future offer same service to close to about 120 million people living the urban areas in Nigeria. Over time there have been complain that waste collectors/disposal companies are not meeting up with their function as a result of unavailable data of homes or commercial hubs that need their services. But with the availability of TrashView smartbin subscribed waste collectors/disposal companies will be informed of overfilled wastebin in a particular location.
We assemble the components of our smart bin and designed TrashView App by ourselves. We have an overall knowledge of our innovation. So we are offering our customers/subscribers prompt feedback and quick support on any issue.
We have severally be part of meetings to discuss "SMART ANAMBRA", utilizing technology to solve most of the critical issues in the state.

We have built a working prototype of our smart waste bin that has the capacity to send messages via web App regarding the percentage level of the waste in the bin or toxicity of the odour.
We have been able to showcase our innovation in several forum and was given Presidential Standing Committee on Innovation Award.
Below is an article about our innovation by PR Nigeria.
In order to grow and scale, we believe that Solve can provide us the platform for global network, mentorship from professional and industrial experts, access to resources for further research, knowledge exchange with people in the same field of innovation and access to funding in order to position our innovation properly

In Anambra State including most states in Nigeria, Homes and commercial hubs rely on routine waste collection services to dispose their trash. However their weekly services are not efficient and properly done. Most areas are not covered.
TrashView smartbin can help minimize unnecessary trips to and from homes and commercial hubs that their bins are yet to get filled. Homes, companies and communities that are subscribers can have waste level/odour sensors installed in their bins.
These devices collect and store data on fill levels, allowing collection services to predict how often bins need to be emptied. This also helps prevent their bins from overflowing and contaminating the surrounding area.
The positive impact of Trashview can not be over emphasized as it provides remote access for efficient level control, lower labour costs, improved time and energy efficiency and reduced congestion in waste bins.
It leads to a reduction in carbon emissions.
Our smart waste management solution can reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and increase the recycling rate as people are conscious of their waste bill. It can also prevent environmental disasters like ocean pollution, floods, and habitat destruction.
Inefficient waste management has become a recurrent challenge, especially in urban areas. Waste generation in Nigeria is on the increase due to the rise in population resulting from emerging commercial hubs and development in cities creating public health concern, illegal dumping and environmental pollution.
It was reported that Nigeria is one of the 10 most vulnerable countries to climate change in the world. Also according to a report by the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria generates one of the highest amounts of solid waste in Africa, with 32 million tonnes per year. Most of these, however, end up in landfills, sewers, beaches, and rivers. And these improper waste management do not only result in litter everywhere, but also in air and sea pollution.
Nigeria’s total Greenhouse Gas emissions (GHG) are 492 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e), totaling 1.01 percent of global GHG emissions.
Most of these harmful greenhouse gases are created from decomposing waste that were ineffectively disposed.
So our solution is there to mitigate all these environmental pollution and issues while creating a smart environment. Designated jobs will be created in the process.
Our smart waste bin(TrashView) have sensors that perform three functionalities. The fill level control, odour control and temperature control. Sending real time information to the waste disposal companies screen as regards the level, odour or temperature condition.
It sends this real-time information via the Internet to our App on the users screen stating the specific location of the waste bin and feeding waste trucks with the route to take.
It provides improved monitoring systems and data collection, helping us to enhance our technology-based advancement.
