We are addressing the specific problem of energy inefficiency and its contribution to climate change, particularly in neglected communities and developing regions. The scale of this issue is significant both locally and globally. Worldwide, buildings account for around 40% of energy consumption and contribute to 33% of global greenhouse gas emissions. In the communities we target, outdated infrastructure, lack of access to renewable energy sources, and limited awareness of energy conservation practices exacerbate this problem.
Millions of people are affected by this issue. In Latin America alone, many communities face high electricity costs and unreliable energy supply, impacting their economic stability and quality of life. The absence of efficient energy management and integration of renewable energies directly contributes to this issue, leading to unnecessary waste of energy and an increased carbon footprint.
Our solution, GreenIntel, is designed to tackle these contributing factors by providing a smart energy management system that optimizes energy consumption, reduces costs, and integrates renewable energy solutions. By leveraging AI and IoT technology, GreenIntel can significantly reduce energy waste and promote sustainable energy practices. Relevant statistics indicate that smart energy solutions can reduce energy bills by up to 25%, underscoring the potential impact of our solution on both individuals and communities.
Therefore, our work directly addresses the urgent need for energy efficiency and sustainability, aiming to relieve the burden on millions of people while simultaneously contributing to global efforts against climate change.
Our solution, GreenIntel, is a smart energy management system designed to optimize energy usage in homes and businesses. It's a comprehensive platform that combines artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to efficiently monitor, analyze, and manage energy consumption.
Here's how it works: GreenIntel collects data from various energy-consuming devices and systems within a property through IoT sensors. This data includes electricity usage, peak usage hours, and energy consumption patterns. The AI component then analyzes this data to identify inefficiencies and areas where energy usage can be optimized without compromising comfort or productivity.
Based on the analysis, GreenIntel provides personalized recommendations to users for reducing energy consumption. Our team leader, Dr. Edwin Gerardo Acuña Acuña, has extensive experience in renewable energy systems and sustainable development initiatives. His hands-on experience and cultural sensitivity make him especially qualified to lead our team and ensure that our solution is tailored to the specific needs of our target communities.

Our solution, GreenIntel, is currently in the prototype stage. We have developed and tested a functional version of the platform, featuring key components such as real-time energy monitoring, AI-driven analysis, and personalized energy-saving recommendations.
To date, we have conducted pilot tests of GreenIntel with a select group of users, including homeowners, small businesses, and community organizations. These pilot tests have allowed us to gather valuable feedback on the platform's usability, effectiveness, and overall user experience.
Through these pilot tests, we have successfully onboarded over 100 users onto the GreenIntel platform, enabling them to monitor and manage their energy usage more effectively. Initial feedback from users has been overwhelmingly positive, with many reporting significant reductions in their energy bills and increased awareness of their energy consumption patterns.
While we are still refining and iterating the platform based on user feedback, we are confident in the viability and potential impact of GreenIntel. As we continue to enhance the platform and expand our user base, we anticipate even greater benefits for our customers and the wider community in terms of energy savings, environmental sustainability, and improved quality of life.
We are submitting our application to Solve because we recognize its ability to connect Solver teams with partners who can help us overcome various barriers we face in developing and implementing our solution, GreenIntel. While our goal is not solely to raise funds, we understand that financial support can be crucial in scaling and enhancing the impact of our solution.
