Solution Pitch

The Problem

Smallholder farmers in Africa, producing 70% of the continent’s food, struggle to adapt to climate change due to data scarcity and the digital divide. This issue, affecting 80% of women farmers, limits access to crucial information, exacerbating food insecurity and increasing vulnerability to extreme weather, further threatening their livelihoods.

The Solution

Amini’s data platform is a cutting-edge AI solution providing hyper-accurate, granular data localized to smallholder farms, addressing Africa’s critical data scarcity and information inaccessibility. Utilizing deep tech, purpose-built for Africa, space technology, and machine learning, Amini aggregates and translates complex raw data into useful information accessible via an API or simple USSD/SMS for stakeholders with no smartphones. The solution revolutionizes data transformation by creating purpose-built analytics, such as foundation models for Earth Science that are calibrated and validated for the African context.

Amini works via local institutions (cooperatives, agtech) and global companies (CPG, insurance) with direct access to smallholder farmers to improve those farmers’ access to high-quality insights, compliance with EUDR, and production efficiency–thereby improving climate resilience and access to financial resources like agricultural insurance. By developing validated and calibrated technology for Africa, Amini helps communities build resilience against climate change, contributing to food security and economic growth across the continent.

What specific problem are you solving?
4 billion people in the Global South risk exclusion from the AI economy due to structural divides. Data: information remains trapped in paper records and fragmented systems. Connectivity: billions remain unconnected or underserved. Compute: regions like Africa hold less than 1% of global compute capacity, limiting ability to build AI.
What is your solution?
Amini is building the sovereign, AI-native distributed infrastructure stack for the Global South. Our solution addresses three structural divides: data, connectivity, and compute through four integrated products. (1) Amini Soma, an agentic AI system that transforms paper into machine-readable intelligence (99% typed / 95% handwritten accuracy, 40+ languages, 250,000x faster than manual effort). (2) Amini Origin, an API-first multimodal data platform with governance, lineage tracking, versioning, and interoperability. (3) Amini Ulap, an AI-native connectivity layer that converts idle spectrum into sovereign 4G/5G private networks (94.2% spectrum sensing accuracy, 23ms latency). (4) Amini Pods, modular Tier-3 micro data centers (100kW–25MW) co-locating compute, storage, 5G, and sovereign cloud, designed to be renewable-ready and vendor-agnostic. Together, these systems enable nations to become visible, connected, represented, and sovereign.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Amini serves governments, public institutions, developers, and citizens across the Global South, beginning with small island developing states and African nations. For governments, we provide sovereign digital infrastructure that enables countries to manage data, connectivity, and AI systems under national control. This includes tools to digitize records, organize government data, and run AI services locally. For civil servants, our AI systems transform paper archives and spreadsheets into structured data, reducing weeks of work to minutes and enabling faster decision making across ministries. For citizens, ChatBB provides instant multilingual access to government services through channels such as WhatsApp, making information easier to access. For developers and data scientists, our capacity-building programs and open challenges have trained more than 15,000 people across 42 African countries, creating pathways into the AI economy. By enabling nations to own data, connectivity, and compute, Amini helps ensure four billion people can participate in the AI economy.
