What specific problem are you solving?
In Colombia, 82% of domestic workers are employed informally, lacking access to basic labor rights. Six out of ten earn the minimum wage or less, and women in domestic work earn 40% less than men. Additionally, 7 out of 10 domestic workers are single mothers and heads of household.
What is your solution?
Symplifica developed a digital platform that offers a wide range of services for employers and domestic workers, aimed at promoting their formalization. The platform helps employers enroll domestic workers in social security systems, formalize written contracts, and manage monthly payments for pensions, health insurance, occupational hazard insurance, and family subsidies. Symplifica provides flexible plans based on working hours, offering services such as assistance with hiring, contract templates, social security registration, online payment channels, documentation storage, and customer service. Additionally, the platform includes services like medical exams, background checks, uniforms, and legal and psychological counseling for both employers and domestic workers.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Symplifica serves households and employers, as well as the domestic workers themselves, 95% of whom are women. To date, more than 35,000 employers have used the platform, enabling the formalization of over 55,000 domestic workers into the social security system.
Through Symplifica, workers gain access to healthcare, pensions, paid leave, and family subsidies, many for the first time. In fact, 52% did not have access to social security before joining. Beyond formalization, we have provided over 4,000 mental health consultations, managed more than 30,000 family assistance subsidies, and created community-building spaces such as our Domestic Workers’ Day event, attended by 600 workers.
Our impact: 61% of workers report greater awareness of their labor rights, 93% say they now feel safe exercising those rights, and 65% report an improved quality of life. By simplifying formal employment, Symplifica drives both economic security and dignity for thousands of women and their families.
