AI infrastructure for courts, enabling paperless operations through transcription, translation, OCR, and workflow automation to reduce judicial delays and improve access to justice.

The Problem

India's judiciary faces a backlog of 50 million cases, averaging 12 years to resolve, with a 300-year clearance time, disproportionately harming marginalized groups. Few courtrooms have skilled stenographers who can type in real-time, forcing judges into slow, error-prone transcription, delaying justice, and exacerbating economic and social hardships for the vulnerable.

The Solution

Adalat AI is an AI-powered dashboard for courts designed to automate the various clerical pain points in the justice system, speeding up case processing and ensuring timely justice. The dashboard integrates tools for transcription, translation, OCR, and workflow management, specifically tailored to the needs of court staff and judges. One of its key features is its transcription tool, which assists stenographers by converting speech to text in real time, reducing delays caused by manual typing. This includes handling complex legal jargon and vernacular languages, ensuring inclusivity across diverse linguistic regions.

The software integrates seamlessly with existing court systems. This tool empowers stenographers and frees up judicial officers to focus on adjudication rather than clerical tasks, thereby reducing judicial delays and improving access to justice, particularly for vulnerable communities.By tackling inefficiencies at the administrative level, Adalat AI aims to end delays and transform India’s justice delivery system.

Stats

Adalat AI is deployed in 5,000+ courtrooms across ten states in India.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Adalat AI serves two primary groups within India’s judicial system: marginalized citizens harmed by prolonged judicial delays, and an overburdened judiciary constrained by limited resources and outdated workflows. For vulnerable citizens, repeated hearings, long case resolution times, and extended pre-trial detention create economic, social hardship. For judges and court staff, manual transcription and documentation consume valuable time that could otherwise be spent on hearings and decision-making. We address these challenges through AI-powered transcription, documentation, translation, and caseflow management tools that automate administrative tasks and streamline judicial workflows. By reducing the burden of manual work, the platform enables judges and court staff to focus on core judicial functions while improving the speed and efficiency of case processing. The impact extends beyond the courtroom. Faster case resolution improves access to justice, reduces delays for undertrial prisoners, and helps low-income litigants resolve disputes more quickly, contributing to more efficient and accessible justice system.
