TrialHer is a digital health platform that uses AI to match women with clinical trials in a way that’s personalized and inclusive. Women create profiles, upload health info from annual checkups or medical records, and are matched with relevant trials from tens of thousands of studies that are recruiting. Behind the scenes, we use a proprietary algorithm (currently under refinement)...

What specific problem are you solving?
Today, women still remain dangerously underrepresented in clinical research. Despite comprising over half of the global population, less than 20% of reproducible health data focuses on women. This has led to treatments that are less effective, or even harmful, due to a lack of inclusive evidence. Additionally, over 80% of clinical trials are delayed because of recruitment challenges, and 85% of people don’t even know how to participate! These intersecting issues disproportionately affect women in low- and middle-income countries, where barriers to access are even greater. TrialHer addresses this problem by increasing access to clinical research through a secure, AI-powered platform that centers education and community. We leverage gamification, a proprietary HER-IF Score, and localized AI insights to empower women with the tools, knowledge, and rewards to participate in research. This isn’t just about inclusion - it’s about creating infrastructure that ethically collects, protects, and activates data in service of women’s health equity. Globally, billions of dollars in research and healthcare innovation depend on accurate, diverse data. By unlocking participation from the 3.9 billion women worldwide, TrialHer directly addresses systemic inequity and builds a healthier future for all.
What is your solution?
TrialHer is a digital health platform that uses AI to match women with clinical trials in a way that’s personalized and inclusive. Women create profiles, upload health info from annual checkups or medical records, and are matched with relevant trials from tens of thousands of studies that are recruiting. Behind the scenes, we use a proprietary algorithm (currently under refinement) being built with Microsoft’s OpenAI tools to interpret health data, apply inclusion/exclusion criteria, and deliver personalized trial matches that reduce screening failure and save researchers time. We also built the HER-IF Score: a proprietary metric that quantifies the research impact of a participant’s profile using variables like condition relevance, data completeness, and diversity factors. Researchers can use this score to prioritize outreach and meet equity goals more precisely. TrialHer is privacy-first. We’ve implemented Microsoft’s data encryption standards and designed our infrastructure to be GDPR- and HIPAA-compliant, ensuring women’s data is safe, locally processed, and never sold. This isn’t a mass recruitment tool - it’s a curated pipeline. And before launch, we’ve already built a community of 100+ global health ambassadors and won support from FONGIT, Microsoft for Startups, and Venture Kick.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
TrialHer is built for women who’ve never even been asked to participate in clinical research. Most women don’t know how to access clinical trials (≈85%)- that means most women haven't been asked to participate. Those who do know, don’t trust the system, or simply don’t see themselves represented in medical research. Many live in places where outreach is minimal or nonexistent. Even when they’re interested, the process is confusing and often centered around the needs of institutions. TrialHer changes that. We meet women where they are: on their phones, in their languages, with clear information, privacy protections, and rewards for their time and trust. Our platform helps them find relevant trials, understand their options, and feel like active contributors to something bigger. We’re currently exploring the opportunity to design an SMS-based pilot in collaboration with Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV), focused on reaching women in East Africa for participation in antimalarial research. The Head of Clinical Research at MMV expressed interest in collaborating with TrialHer. For clinicians, sponsors, and researchers: We’re not building a mass directory - we’re curating a targeted, compliant pipeline of participants who are pre-screened ad motivated to contribute.
